Famvir è un farmaco antivirale. Rallenta la crescita e la diffusione del virus dell'herpes, in modo che il corpo possa combattere l'infezione. Famvir non cura l'herpes, ma può ridurre i sintomi delle infezioni. Viene usato per trattare le infezioni causate dal virus dell'herpes,malattie causate da virus quali l'herpes genitale, herpes labiale, herpes zoster e varicella.
Indicazioni
Prendi questo farmaco esattamente come è stato prescritto dal medico. Prendere ogni dose con un bicchiere pieno d'acqua, a stomaco pieno o vuoto. La dose corretta per la cura di herpes genitale recidivo è di 1.000 mg due volte al giorno,quella per herpes labiale recidivo dovrebbe essere di 1.500 mg per una volta al giorno. Per sopprimere l'herpes genitale ricorrente assumere 250 mg due volte al giorno per 1 anno. Il trattamento di herpes zoster richiede un dosaggio di 500 mg ogni otto ore durante la settimana. Per herpes labiale e genitale la dose corretta da assumere è di 500mg due volte al giorno nel periodo di 5-10 giorni.
Precauzioni
Evitare di lasciare che le zone infette vengano a contatto con le altre persone. Evitare di toccare una zona infetta e poi toccarsi gli occhi. Lavarsi spesso le mani per impedire la trasmissione dell'infezione agli altri.
Controindicazioni
Non utilizzare il farmaco se si è allergici al farmaco, se si soffre di una malattia renale o se si è in gravidanza od in periodo d'allattamento.
Possibili effetti collaterali
Cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza se si manifesta uno dei seguenti sintomi di un allergia: febbre, vertigini, diarrea o vomito.
Interazioni farmacologiche
Le possibili interazioni con altri farmaci sono sconosciute. Consultare il proprio medico o farmacista per ulteriori informazioni.
Dose mancata
Prendere la dose dimenticata non appena possibile. Saltare la dose, se è tempo per la dose successiva. Non prendere dosi extra per compensare le dosi dimenticate.
Sovradosaggio
I sintomi da sovradosaggio non sono noti. Rivolgersi immediatamente al proprio medico se si pensa di aver assunto una dose eccessiva del farmaco.
Conservazione
Conservare il farmaco a temperatura ambiente tra i 59-77 F (15-25 C). Conservare lontano da umidità e luce. Tenere fuori dalla portata di bambini e animali domestici.
