Cozaar (Losartan)
Informations générales
Cozaar est dans un groupe de médicaments appelés les antagonistes des récepteurs de l'angiotensine II. Il empêche les vaisseaux sanguins de se rétrécir, ce qui abaisse la pression sanguine et améliore la circulation sanguine. Cozaar est utilisé pour traiter la haute pression sanguine(hypertension). Il est également utilisé pour diminuer le risque d'accident vasculaire cérébral chez certaines personnes atteintes des maladies cardiaques. Il est utilisé pour ralentir des lésions rénales de longue durée chez les personnes qui ont le diabète de type 2 et qui ont aussi l'hypertension artérielle et des protéines dans l'urine (protéinurie). Il peut être utilisé seul ou en association avec un diurétique.
Posologie
Prenez Cozaar conformément aux prescriptions de votre médecin. Vous pouvez prendre Cozaar avec ou sans nourriture. La dose habituellement recommandée de losartan est de 50 mg ou 100 mg une fois par jour. Dans certains cas, on recommande une dose initiale plus faible, de 25 mg une fois par jour. Votre médecin peut parfois changer votre dose pour optimiser les résultats du traitement. Votre pression artérielle devrait être contrôlée régulièrement. Continuez à utiliser Cozaar, même si vous vous sentez bien.
Précautions
Avant de prendre Cozaar, avertissez votre médecin si vous avez une maladie rénale ou hépatique, l’insuffisance cardiaque congestive, un déséquilibre électrolytique ou si vous êtes déshydraté. Avisez votre médecin si vous allaitez. La consommation d'alcool peut abaisser encore plus votre pression artérielle et peut augmenter certains des effets secondaires. N’utilisez pas de suppléments de potassium ou de substituts de sel pendant que vous prenez Cozaar. Évitez de vous lever trop vite d'une position assise ou couchée.
Contre-indications
Vous ne devriez pas prendre Cozaar si vous êtes enceinte ou allergique au losartan ou à l'un des ingrédients du médicament.
Effets secondaires possibles
Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez une respiration sifflante, une peau pâle, l’urticaire, le rythme cardiaque rapide, un jaunissement de la peau, des douleurs à la poitrine, une difficulté à respirer, un pouls faible, une faiblesse musculaire. Les effets secondaires moins graves peuvent inclure: des maux de tête, des maux d'estomac, l’insomnie, des vertiges, des crampes musculaires, la toux sèche, le nez bouché, des douleurs abdominales, une perte d'appétit.
Interaction des médicaments
Informez votre médecin de tous les médicaments que vous utilisez, notamment: des substituts de sel qui contiennent du potassium, la rifampicine, le lithium, des médicaments contre les troubles de la pression artérielle (ramipril, énalapril), des médicaments anti-inflammatoires, des diurétiques, des anti-inflammatoires non-stéroïdiens (indométhacine, diclofénac, ibuprofène). L'interaction entre deux médicaments ne signifie pas toujours que vous devez cesser de prendre l'un d'eux. Informez votre médecin ou le prescripteur de tous les médicaments sur ordonnance, en vente libre et des herbes médicinales que vous prenez.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Surdosage
Si vous pensez que vous avez une surdose du médicament, cherchez de l’aide médicale d'urgence immédiatement. Les symptômes de surdosage sont des étourdissements, des battements cardiaques rapides ou lents.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à la température ambiante à l'abri de la lumière et de l'humidité. Conservez tous les médicaments hors de portée des enfants et des animaux domestiques.
