Diovan (Valsartan)
Informations générales
Diovan appartient à la famille de médicaments appelés inhibiteurs de l'angiotensine II. Le valsartan est son composant principal. Il est utilisé pour traiter la haute pression artérielle (hypertension). Le valsartan est également utilisé pour traiter l'insuffisance cardiaque chronique ou pour réduire le risque de la mort après une attaque cardiaque chez les personnes qui ne peuvent pas utiliser un autre type de médicament appelé inhibiteur de la conversion de l'angiotensine enzymatique. Valsartan bloque l'action de l'angiotensine II, ce qui entraîne la relaxation des vaisseaux sanguins. Cette relaxation réduit la pression artérielle. Le valsartan peut être utilisé seul ou en association avec un diurétique.
Posologie
Prenez Diovan conformément aux prescriptions de votre médecin. Pour traiter l'hypertension artérielle, la dose recommandée pour l'adulte est de 80 mg une fois par jour. Pour traiter l'insuffisance cardiaque, la dose initiale recommandée est de 40 mg deux fois par jour. La dose maximale recommandée est de 160 mg deux fois par jour. Après une crise cardiaque, la dose initiale recommandée de valsartan est de 20 mg deux fois par jour. Votre médecin peut augmenter lentement la dose de 1 à 2 semaines jusqu’ à une dose cible de 160 mg deux fois par jour.
Précautions
Avant de prendre Diovan veuillez aviser votre médecin si vous avez des problèmes rénaux ou hépatiques, une pression artérielle basse, l'insuffisance cardiaque congestive, le glaucome, si vous êtes allergique aux sulfamides ou à la pénicilline ou si vous allaitez. Évitez de boire de l'alcool. Il peut baisser votre pression artérielle et peut augmenter certains des effets secondaires.
Contre-indications
Ne prenez pas Diovan si vous êtes allergique au valsartan ou à l'un des ingrédients du médicament ou si vous êtes enceinte.
Effets secondaires possibles
Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez des douleurs abdominales, des maux de gorge, une diarrhée, la toux, les maux de dos, une diminution de la miction, l’urine foncée, des évanouissements, un gonflement du visage, l’urticaire, une difficulté à respirer, l’écoulement ou la congestion nasaux, une constipation, des maux de tête, des troubles du sommeil, une faiblesse, l'impuissance, des vomissements. Si vous remarquez d'autres effets non énumérés ci-dessus, consultez votre médecin.
Interaction des médicaments
Informez votre médecin de tous les autres médicaments que vous utilisez, notamment: les anti-inflammatoires non-stéroïdiens (célécoxib, indométacine, ibuprofène, diclofénac, naproxène), des diurétiques (furosémide), des inhibiteurs de l'enzyme (ramipril, énalapril), le lithium, les suppléments de potassium. L'interaction entre deux médicaments ne signifie pas toujours que vous devez cesser de prendre l'un d'eux. Informez votre médecin ou le prescripteur de tous les médicaments sur ordonnance, en vente libre et des herbes médicinales que vous prenez.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Surdosage
Si vous pensez que vous avez une surdose du médicament, cherchez de l’aide médicale d'urgence immédiatement. Les symptômes de surdosage sont des étourdissements, un rythme cardiaque rapide ou lent.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à la température ambiante entre 59-86 degrés F (15-30 degrés C) à l’abri de la chaleur, de la lumière et de l'humidité.
