Toprol Xl (Metoprolol)
Informations générales
Toprol XL fait partie d'une classe de médicaments appelés bêtabloquants. Les bêtabloquants affectent le cœur et la circulation. Il est utilisé pour traiter l'angine (des douleurs thoraciques) dûe à la maladie coronarienne et à l'hypertension (une pression artérielle élevée). Il est également utilisé pour traiter ou empêcher la crise cardiaque, la migraine et certains types de tremblements.
Posologie
Prenez Toprol XL conformément aux prescriptions de votre médecin. Vous devriez le prendre avec le repas à la même heure chaque jour. Vous ne devriez pas arrêter de prendre Toprol XL sans en informer au préalable votre médecin. La dose maximale recommandée de Toprol XL est de 400 mg par jour. Votre médecin peut augmenter ou diminuer votre dose si nécessaire.
Précautions
Informez votre médecin de tous les médicaments que vous prenez, notamment des médicaments sur ordonnance et sans ordonnance, des antiacides, des vitamines et des suppléments à base de plantes. Si vous avez une intervention chirurgicale, avisez le chirurgien que vous prenez Toprol XL. La consommation d'alcool peut augmenter certains des effets secondaires de Toprol XL.
Contre-indications
N’utilisez pas Toprol XL si vous y êtes allergique, si vous avez une maladie cardiaque, une maladie rénale, le diabète. Avisez votre médecin si vous êtes enceinte ou si vous essayez de tomber enceinte, ou si vous allaitez.
Effets secondaires possibles
Les effets secondaires les plus fréquents sont: une fatigue, une diarrhée, le ralentissement du rythme cardiaque. D'autres effets secondaires courants sont: l’essoufflement, la bouche sèche, l’urticaire, des démangeaisons, des nausées, des douleurs thoraciques, des étourdissements. Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez un de ces effets secondaires.
Interaction des médicaments
Toprol XL peut interagir avec: des alpha-bloquants (alfuzosine, doxazosine, phentolamine, etc.), les inhibiteurs calciques (vérapamil, nifédipine, félodipine, etc.) qui peuvent provoquer une pression artérielle dangereusement basse, les antidépresseurs (citalopram, fluoxétine, tranylcypromine, etc.), les médicaments contre l’arythmie (lidocaïne, disopyramide, quinidine), les anti-inflammatoires non-stéroïdiens (AINS): ibuprofène, méloxicam, diclofénac. Les AINS peuvent diminuer l’effet antihypertenseur de Toprol XL.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Surdosage
Si vous pensez que vous avez une surdose du médicament, cherchez de l’aide médicale d'urgence immédiatement. Les symptômes de surdosage sont des nausées, des vomissements, une pression artérielle basse, l'hypoglycémie, le rythme cardiaque anormal.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à la température ambiante entre 59-86 degrés F (15-30 degrés C) à l’abri de la lumière et de l'humidité. Conservez-le dans un emballage étanche.
