Cytoxan (Cyclophosphamide)
Informazioni generali
Cytoxan appartiene ad un gruppo di farmaci chiamati agenti alchilanti. Viene usato per trattare diversi tipi di cancro, come i linfomi, la leucemia, il mieloma multiplo, la micosi fungoide, il neuroblastoma, il tumore ovarico, il retinoblastoma o il tumore al seno. Il suocomponente principale è la ciclofosfamide. Cytoxan Agisce rallentando o fermando la crescita delle cellule. Cytoxan è anche usato per trattare alcune malattie dei reni (sindrome nefrosica) nei bambini.
Indicazioni
Precauzioni
Prima di iniziare il trattamento con Cytoxan informare il proprio medico se si hanno:bassi livelli di globuli bianchi nel sangue (neutropenia) o un basso numero di piastrine (trombocitopenia), se in precedenza si hanno subiti trattamenti a base di radiazioni o chemioterapia, infezioni, malattie cardiache, malattie renali, insufficienza renale, malattie del fegato, insufficienza epatica, cirrosi, eventuali allergie. Evitare il contatto con persone che hanno il raffreddore, l'influenza o altre malattie contagiose. Lavarsi bene le mani per prevenire la diffusione di infezioni.
Controindicazioni
Non assumere Cytoxan se si è allergico ad esso, a ciclofosfamide, o ad uno qualsiasi dei componenti inattivi del farmaco. Evitare l'assunzione anche in caso di gravidanza o allattamento e se si soffre di grave depressione del midollo osseo (diminuzione della capacità del suo midollo osseo di produrre cellule del sangue).
Possibili effetti collaterali
Cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza se si hanno:febbre, mal di gola, brividi, sangue nelle urine, nausea, feci nere o catramose, vomito, minzione dolorosa o difficoltosa dolore toracico, ittero (colorazione gialla della pelle o degli occhi), eruzione cutanea, temporanea perdita di capelli, difficoltà respiratorie, alterazioni della funzionalità del midollo osseo, sanguinamento insolito, diminuzione dell'appetito, dolori addominali, cambiamenti nel colore della pelle, gonfiore delle labbra, della faccia, della lingua, orticaria. Se si notano altri effetti non elencati sopra, contattare il medico.
Interazioni farmacologiche
Si informi il medico circa tutti i farmaci in uso, in particolare riguardo a:diuretici tiazidici (clorotiazide, idroclorotiazide, metolazone, indapamide), anticoagulanti (warfarin), digossina, antraciclina ,farmaci chemioterapici (idarubicina valrubicin, epirubicina), anticonvulsivanti (fosfenitoina, carbamazepina, fenitoina, pentobarbital, fenobarbital), antibiotici rifamicina (rifampicina, rifapentina, rifabutina). Si noti inoltre che l'interazione fra due farmaci non necessariamente deve portare ad una sospensione dell'utilizzo di uno dei due farmaci. Si informi il medico circa tutti i farmaci in uso compresi i farmaci da prescrizione,quelli da banco e i prodotti erboristici.
Dose mancata
Prendere la dose dimenticata non appena possibile. Saltare la dose, se è tempo per la dose successiva. Non prendere dosi extra per compensare le dosi dimenticate.
Sovradosaggio
Se si pensa di aver assunto una dose eccessiva del farmaco cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza. I sintomi da sovradosaggio sono:diminuita funzionalità del midollo osseo, infezioni e problemi cardiaci.
Conservazione
Conservare il farmaco a temperatura ambiente tra i 68-77 gradi F (20-25 gradi C) lontano dal calore della luce e umidità. Non conservare in bagno. Conservare il farmaco lontano dalla portata dei bambini e degli animali domestici.
