Purinethol (Mercatopurine)
Informations générales
Purinethol appartient au groupe des médicaments appelés antinéoplasiques. Il combat le cancer en empêchant la croissance des cellules cancéreuses, ce qui entraîne leur destruction. Ce médicament est utilisé avec d'autres médicaments pour traiter un certain type de cancer (leucémie aiguë lymphoblastique). Ce médicament peut également être utilisé pour traiter la maladie de Crohn, la colite ulcéreuse et le lymphome lymphoblastique.
Posologie
Prenez Purinethol exactement comme prescrit par votre médecin. Prenez ce médicament par voie orale avec ou sans nourriture, avec un verre plein d'eau, généralement une fois par jour. Buvez beaucoup de liquides lorsque vous prenez ce médicament pour diminuer le risque d'effets secondaires. Une dose initiale habituelle pour les adultes est entre 100 mg et 200 mg par jour, tandis qu’une dose initiale usuelle pour un enfant de 5 ans pourrait commencer généralement par 50 mg par jour.
Précautions
Avant de prendre Purinethol vous devriez aviser votre médecin si vous avez des troubles sanguins, l'anémie, un faible nombre de globules, la goutte, une maladie rénale, des calculs rénaux, des maladies du foie, la pancréatite, la radiothérapie, le cancer, le lymphome. Ne faites pas d’immunisations ou de vaccinations. Évitez d'être près des personnes qui ont un rhume, la grippe, ou d'autres maladies contagieuses. Limitez la consommation des boissons alcoolisées. L'alcool peut augmenter le risque d'irritation de l'estomac ou de l'oesophage ou des dommages au foie. Les personnes âgées peuvent être plus sensibles aux effets du médicament.
Contre-indications
Ne prenez pas Purinethol si vous êtes allergique à la mercaptopurine ou à l’un des ingrédients de ce médicament, si vous êtes enceinte ou allaitez.
Effets secondaires possibles
Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez l’assombrissement de la peau, la diarrhée, des maux de tête, des nausées, des vomissements, une éruption cutanée, des démangeaisons, une faiblesse, des douleurs articulaires, un gonflement des pieds, une fatigue inhabituelle, une faiblesse, un jaunissement des yeux ou de la peau, des selles noires ou sanglantes, la toux, un enrouement, une fièvre, des frissons, des douleurs lombaires, des mictions douloureuses ou difficiles, des saignements inhabituels, des ecchymoses, des maux de gorge, des douleurs corporelles, une perte d'appétit, l’urine foncée, une perte des cheveux, des maux d'estomac, un gonflement de votre visage, des lèvres, de la langue, l'urticaire, une difficulté à respirer. Si vous remarquez d'autres effets non énumérés ci-dessus, consultez votre médecin.
Interaction des médicaments
Informez votre médecin de tous les autres médicaments que vous utilisez, notamment: l'allopurinol, la thioguanine, l’olsalazine, l'azathioprine, les anticoagulants (warfarine), le triméthoprime, la cyclosporine, la sulfasalazine, l'aspirine, l'érythromycine, l'amiodarone. L'interaction entre deux médicaments ne signifie pas toujours que vous devez cesser de prendre l'un d'eux. Informez votre médecin ou le prescripteur de tous les médicaments sur ordonnance, en vente libre et des herbes médicinales que vous prenez.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Surdosage
Si vous pensez que vous avez une surdose du médicament, cherchez de l’aide médicale d'urgence immédiatement. Les symptômes de surdose sont un jaunissement de la peau ou des yeux, des nausées, une diarrhée, des vomissements, des urines foncées, des douleurs abdominales sévères.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à la température ambiante entre 68-77 degrés F (20-25 degrés C) à l’abri de la lumière et de l'humidité. Ne conservez pas les médicaments dans la salle de bain. Conservez tous les médicaments hors de portée des enfants et des animaux domestiques.
