Información general

Instrucciones
Tome Zetia exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. Tome este medicamento por vía oral, generalmente una vez al día con o sin comida. Tome ezetimibe a la misma hora cada día. La dosis recomendada es 10 mg una vez al día. Si toma un secuestrador de ácidos biliares (como colestiramina, colestipol), tome Zetia al menos 2 horas antes o 4 horas después de tomar el secuestrante de ácidos biliares.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Zetia debe hablar con su médico si usted tiene enfermedad del hígado o del riñón, enfermedad de la vesícula, cálculos biliares, problemas musculares, alergias, si usted usa medicamentos de esteroides u hormonas o si bebe alcohol con frecuencia. Evite comer alimentos que son altos en grasa o colesterol.
Contraindicaciones
No tome Zetia si se es alérgico a la ezetimiba oa cualquier componente de este medicamento, si está embarazada o amamantando o si usted tiene enfermedad hepática activa o inexplicables las enzimas hepáticas altas.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Busque atención médica de emergencia si tiene debilidad muscular inusual, dolor, dolor de estómago,náuseas, fiebre baja, perdida del apetito, orina oscura, heces de color arcilla, ictericia (coloración amarillenta de la piel o los ojos), dolor en el pecho, pancreatitis, vómitos, frecuencia cardíaca rápida, dolor de garganta, dolor de cabeza, descamación, erupciones en la piel de color rojo, urticaria, dificultad para respirar, hinchazón de la cara, los labios, entumecimiento, depresión, mareos, diarrea, secreción o congestión nasal, dolor en las articulaciones, dolor de espalda. Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, consulte a su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: colestiramina (Prevalite, Questran), colestipol (Colestid), colesevelam (Welchol), gemfibrozil (Lopid), ciclosporina (Neoral, Sandimmune, Gengraf), anticoagulantes (warfarina). La interacción entre los dos medicamentos no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico sobre todos los medicamentos, de venta libre-, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que está tomando.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Los síntomas de sobredosis son desconocidos. Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato.
Almacenamiento
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 59-77 grados F (15-25 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
