Información general
Detrol pertenece a la clase de medicamentos conocidos como antiespasmódicos. Se utiliza para tratar la vejiga hiperactiva. Este medicamento ayuda a reducir la pérdida de orina, sensación de necesidad de orinar inmediatamente, y frecuentes viajes al baño.
Instrucciones
Tome Detrol exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. La dosis inicial recomendada para el tratamiento de vejiga hiperactiva es de 2 mg dos veces al día, con o sin alimentos. El médico puede recomendar una dosis más baja (1 mg dos veces al día) si experimenta efectos secundarios molestos, si usted tiene enfermedad renal o hepática. Detrol se debe tomar a la misma hora cada día.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Detrol usted debe hablar con su médico si usted tiene glaucoma, problemas digestivos, dificultad para orinar, agrandamiento de la próstata (hiperplasia benigna de próstata), enfermedades renales, insuficiencia renal, miastenia gravis, enfermedad del hígado, insuficiencia hepática, cirrosis, hepatitis, corazón irregular ritmo (arritmias), algún tipo de alergia. Este medicamento puede causar mareos, somnolencia o visión borrosa. No conduzca o realice tareas que requieren vigilancia. Evite beber alcohol. Éste puede aumentar algunos de los efectos secundarios de la tolterodina.
Contraindicaciones
Usted no debe tomar Detrol si usted es alérgico a la tolterodina o a cualquiera de los ingredientes del medicamento, o si tiene retención gástrica (obstrucción del estómago), incontrolada glaucoma de ángulo estrecho, retención urinaria. Hable con su médico si usted está embarazada o amamantando.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Obtenga ayuda médica de emergencia si usted tiene dolor de pecho, latidos cardiacos rápidos o irregulares, dificultad para respirar, visión borrosa, sensación de falta de aire, hinchazón, micción dolorosa o difícil, orinar menos de lo habitual, la boca seca, ojos secos, mareos, dolor de estómago o estomacal, diarrea, aumento rápido de peso, confusión, alucinaciones, somnolencia, estreñimiento, dolor en las articulaciones, hinchazón de la cara, labios, lengua, urticaria. Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, consulte a su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: medicamentos inhibidor de la acetilcolinesterasa (donepezilo, tacrina, rivastigmina), fármacos anticolinérgicos (belladona, la atropina, glicopirrolato, haloperidol), los antibióticos o antifúngicos (ketoconazol, claritromicina, telitromicina, eritromicina, claritromicina), ciclosporina, inhibidores de la proteasa (atazanavir, indinavir, ritonavir, amprenavir), vinblastina pramlintida, medicamentos narcóticos (metadona, levometadilo), medicamentos para tratar trastornos psiquiátricos (pimozida, tioridazina, clorpromazina), la medicina del ritmo cardíaco (procainamida, sotalol, quinidina, dofetilida). La interacción entre los dos medicamentos no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico acerca de todos los medicamentos, de venta libre-, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que está tomando.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de sobredosis son latidos del corazón rápidos, lentos o irregulares, desmayos, excitación inusual, mental o cambios de humor.
Almacenamiento
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 59-86 grados F (15-30 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
