Antivert (Meclizine)
Informations générales
Antivert est un antihistaminique qui est utilisé pour empêcher ou traiter la nausée, des vomissements et des vertiges provoqués par le mal des transports. Il peut également être utilisé pour réduire des étourdissements, des vertiges et des pertes d'équilibre (vertiges) provoqués par des maladies qui affectent l'oreille interne. Il agit en bloquant les récepteurs de l'histamine et de l'acétylcholine.
Posologie
Prenez Antivert conformément aux prescriptions de votre médecin. Pour prévenir et traiter le mal des transports, la posologie d’Antivert usuelle est de 25 mg à 50 mg prise une heure avant l'embarquement, répétée toutes les 24 heures si nécessaire. Antivert agit habituellement mieux si vous le prenez avant que les symptômes du mal des transports commencent. Pour le traitement des vertiges, la dose habituel est de 25 mg à 100 mg au maximum par jour, administrée en deux (ou plus) plus petites doses par jour. Prenez Antivert avec un verre plein d'eau, avec de la nourriture ou avec un estomac vide.
Précautions
Avant de prendre Antivert vous devriez avertir votre médecin si vous avez l’hypertrophie de la prostate, une difficulté à uriner, la maladie d'Alzheimer, l'asthme, hyperactivité de la thyroïde (hyperthyroïdie), les maladies cardiaques, la haute pression artérielle (hypertension), une maladie pulmonaire obstructive chronique, le glaucome, les ulcères d'estomac, une maladie de reflux gastro-œsophagien (RGO), des allergies. Ce médicament peut vous rendre somnolent ou provoquer la vision trouble. Ne conduisez pas de véhicule ou n’effectuez pas d’activité qui exige de la vigilance. Limitez la consommation des boissons alcoolisées.
Contre-indications
Vous ne devriez pas prendre Antivert si vous y êtes allergique, si vous êtes allergique à la méclizine chlorhydrate ou à l'un des composants inactifs de ce médicament, ou si vous êtes enceinte ou allaitez. Il n'est pas recommandé aux enfants de moins de 12 ans.
Effets secondaires possibles
Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez des changements de vision, une diminution des mictions ou une miction douloureuse, des convulsions, une éruption cutanée, des démangeaisons, une enflure, des étourdissements, des difficultés respiratoires, la sécheresse de la bouche, des nausées, une diarrhée, des douleurs abdominales, une augmentation de l'appétit, des maux de gorge, le gain de poids, le rythme cardiaque rapide (tachycardie), un pouls irrégulier, la confusion, le glaucome, une respiration sifflante. Si vous remarquez d'autres effets non énumérés ci-dessus, consultez votre médecin.
Interaction des médicaments
Informez votre médecin de tous les autres médicaments que vous utilisez, notamment: les antihistaminiques appliqués sur la peau (crème de diphenhydramine, onguent, spray), des antispasmodiques (atropine, alcaloïdes de belladone), les médicaments contre la maladie de Parkinson (benztropine, trihexyphenidyl), la scopolamine, les antidépresseurs tricycliques (amitriptyline ), les médicaments inhibiteurs de l'acétylcholinestérase (galantamine, donépézil), les médicaments phénothiazine (fluphénazine, thioridazine, trifluopérazine). L'interaction entre deux médicaments ne signifie pas toujours que vous devez cesser de prendre l'un d'eux. Informez votre médecin ou le prescripteur de tous les médicaments sur ordonnance, en vente libre et des herbes médicinales que vous prenez.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Surdosage
Si vous pensez que vous avez une surdose du médicament, cherchez de l’aide médicale d'urgence immédiatement. Les symptômes de surdose sont des changements mentaux ou d'humeur, une somnolence extrême, une perte de conscience, des convulsions.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à la température ambiante entre 68-77 degrés F (20-25 degrés C) à l’abri de la lumière et de l'humidité. Ne conservez pas les médicaments dans la salle de bain. Conservez tous les médicaments hors de portée des enfants et des animaux domestiques.
