Imitrex (sumatriptan) est un médicament contre le mal de tête qui rétrécit les vaisseaux sanguins autour du cerveau. Imitrex réduit également les substances dans le corps qui peuvent déclencher des maux de tête, des nausées, une sensibilité à la lumière et une sensibilité sonore et d'autres symptômes de migraine. Il est utilisé pour traiter les migraines. Imitrex n’est utilisé que pour traiter un mal de tête qui a déjà commencé. Il n'empêchera pas les maux de tête et ne réduira pas le nombre d'attaques.
Posologie
Utilisez Imitrex exactement comme prescrit par votre médecin. Prenez un comprimé d’Imitrex en entier avec un verre plein d'eau. Ne coupez pas le comprimé. Le dosage suggéré pour les adultes est de 25-50 mg jusqu'à 100 mg. Utilisez Imitrex dès que vous remarquez les symptômes des maux de tête ou après une attaque a déjà commencé. Le dosage du spray pour le nez d’Imitrex est de 5-20mg jusqu'à 40 mg par jour.
Précautions
Le médicament est pris uniquement pour traiter la migraine classique. Évitez d'utiliser Imitrex si vous avez l'hypertension.
Contre-indications
Vous ne devez pas utiliser Imitrex si vous êtes allergique aux composants, si vous souffrez d’une migraine basale, ophtalmoplégique ou hémiplégique, une maladie coronarienne ou une crise cardiaque, l’angine de poitrine, une hypertension artérielle, des maladies du foie ou des reins, des troubles épileptiques. Les femmes enceintes ou les patients âgés de moins de 18 ans et aînés de 65 ans et plus ne doivent pas prendre le médicament. N’utilisez pas Imitrex si vous avez utilisé des inhibiteurs de la MAO, surtout les derniers 14 jours.
Effets secondaires possibles
Habituellement, le médicament ne provoque pas d'effets secondaires. Parfois, il peut provoquer une allergie, une douleur thoracique, des tremblements, une température élevée et l'asthénie.
Interaction des médicaments
Soyez prudent lorsque vous utilisez Imitrex avec un antidépresseur, les inhibiteurs MAO, les inhibiteurs sélectifs de la recapture de la sérotonine, les inhibiteurs de recapture de la sérotonine-noradrénaline, puisque cela peut provoquer des effets secondaires.
Omission de dose
Puisque Imitrex n’est utilisé qu’au besoin, il n'a pas de schéma posologique quotidien.
Surdosage
Cherchez de l’aide médicale d'urgence si vous pensez que vous avez utilisé trop de médicament. Les symptômes du surdosage peuvent inclure des tremblements ou des secousses musculaires, une rougeur de la peau, des problèmes respiratoires, des lèvres ou des ongles de couleur bleue, des problèmes de vision, les yeux ou la bouche larmoyants, une faiblesse, les troubles de coordination ou des saisies.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à température ambiante entre 20 à 30 degrés C (36-86 F). Conservez-le à l'écart de l'humidité et de la lumière. Gardez-le hors de portée des enfants et loin des animaux domestiques.
