DISSULFIRAM pode ajudar pacientes com problemas de abuso de álcool a não beber álcool. Quando tomados com álcool, este medicamento produz efeitos indesejáveis. Este medicamento faz parte de um programa de recuperação que inclui supervisão médica e aconselhamento. Não é a cura.
O que devo dizer ao meu médico antes de tomar este medicamento?
Ele precisa de saber tem alguma destas condições:
- danos cerebrais
- diabetes
- doença cardíaca
- doença renal
- doença hepática
- doença psicótica
- exposição recente ao álcool ou a qualquer produto que contenha álcool
- convulsões
- toma de metronidazol ou paraldehyde
- problemas tiróide
- reacção alérgica a dissulfiram, pesticidas ou produtos de borracha, outros medicamentos, alimentos, corantes ou preservativos
- gravidez ou tentativa de gravidez
- se está a amamentar
Como devo tomar este medicamento?
Tome este medicamento por via oral com um copo cheio de água. Não deve tomar este medicamento se nas 12 horas anteriores tomou álcool. Os comprimidos podem ser esmagados e misturados com líquidos antes de tomar. Tome o seu medicamento em intervalos regulares. Não tome este medicamento mais do que receitado. Não deixe de o tomar sem conselho médico.
Sobredosagem: Se pensa que poderá ter tomado uma dose superior contacte um centro de controlo de envenenamento ou os serviços de urgência de imediato.
NOTA: Este medicamento é apenas para si. Não o partilhe com outros.
Que fazer se falhei uma toma?
Se falhar uma toma, tome-a assim que possível. Se está próximo da dose seguinte, tome apenas esta dose. Não tome doses duplas ou doses extras.
O que pode interferir com este medicamento?
Não tome este medicamento como nenhum dos medicamentos seguintes:
- álcool ou qualquer produtos que contenha álcool
- amprenavir
- cocaína
- lopinavir; ritonavir
- metronidazol
- soluções orais de ritonavir ou sertralina
- paclitaxel
- paraldehyde
- tranilcipromina
Este medicamento pode também interagir com os seguintes medicamentos:
- isoniazida
- medicamento que tratam ou previnem coágulos sanguíneos como vafarina
- fenitoína
Esta lista pode não descrever todas as interacções possíveis. Dê uma lista de todos os medicamentos, ervas, medicamentos de venda livre, ou suplementos alimentares ao seu fornecedor de saúde. Que cuidados devo ter enquanto tomar este medicamento?
Visite o seu médico ou assistente de saúde regularmente para que possa confirmar o seu progresso.
Nunca tome este medicamento se esteve a beber álcool. Garanta que os seus familiares ou outros em sua casa tem conhecimento deste medicamento e o que fazer numa emergência. Quando este medicamento é tomado com pequenas quantidades de álcool, poderá surtir muitos efeitos indesejáveis. Poderá sentir dores de cabeça, rubor, vómitos, fraqueza e dores de peito. Problemas de respiração ou cardíacos, convulsões e morte pode ocorrer. Este medicamento pode interagir com álcool mesmo 14 dias depois de tomar a sua última dose.
Nunca tome produtos ou use toalhetes que contenham álcool. Leia sempre os rótulos cuidadosamente. Muitos xaropes para a tosse, líquidos para as dores, tónicos, elixires bocais, after shaves, colónias, cremes, vinagres e molhos contêm álcool.
Use uma pulseira ou colar indicando que toma este medicamento. Traga consigo um cartão de identificação com o seu nome, o nome do medicamento e a dose que toma, o nome e número de telefone do seu médico e/ou pessoa de contacto de emergência.
Que efeitos secundários posso notar com a toma deste medicamento?
Efeitos secundários que deve reportar ao seu médico de imediato:
- reacções alérgicas como erupções cutâneas, comichão ou urticária, inchaço no rosto, lábios ou língua
- alterações de visão
- confusão, desorientação ou irritabilidade
- urina escura
- sentimento de doença ou sintomas como constipação
- perda de apetite, náusea
- perda de contacto com a realidade
- entorpecimento, dores ou formigueiro
- dores na parte direita superior do abdómen
- anormalmente cansado ou fraco
- amarelecimento dos olhos ou pele
Os efeitos secundários que normalmente não requerem atenção médica (diga ao seu médico ou profissional de saúde se persistem, ou se são incómodos):
- alterações de ordem sexual
- tonturas
- sonolência, cansaço
- dores de cabeça
- paladar metálico
- náusea, vómito

Onde devo guardar o meu medicamento?
Mantenha fora do alcance das crianças.
Guarde-o em temperaturas entre os 20 e 25º C (68 e 77ºF). Mantenha-os em recipiente resistente à luz. Deite foram medicamentos após a sua data de validade.
