Periactin (Cyproheptadine)
Informazioni generali
Periactin è un farmaco prescritto per il trattamento dei sintomi dell'allergia come febbre e nausea , allergia da fieno, vomito, nausea e vertigini. Si tratta di un antistaminico. Il farmaco funziona bloccando gli effetti dell'istamina, prodotta dal corpo. Il farmaco può essere prescritto anche per il trattamento della cefalea a grappolo e per stimolare l'appetito nelle persone sottopeso.
Indicazioni
Si consiglia di prendere la medicina come è stato prescritto dal medico. Prendere Periactin con un grande bicchiere d'acqua. Non superare la dose consigliata. Solitamente la dose raccomandata per gli adulti è di 4 mg 3 volte al giorno. Essa può variare fino a 20 mg al giorno. La dose raccomandata per i bambini è di 4 mg al giorno.
Precauzioni
Usare il medicinale con cautela. Può causare sonnolenza o vertigini o causare difficoltà nella coordinazione. Prima di iniziare il trattamento informare il medico se si soffre di asma bronchiale, glaucoma, ghiandola tiroidea iperattiva, pressione alta, malattie cardiache o problemi circolatori.
Controindicazioni
Donne che allattano,pazienti con sensibilità all'idroclorato, alla ciproeptadina o farmaci con struttura chimica similare, pazienti che soffrono di ostruzione piloroduodenale,glaucoma, ulcera peptica stenosante, sintomatica ipertrofia prostatica, predisposizione alla ritenzione urinaria o di ostruzione del collo vescicale o che stanno intraprendendo terapie contro acuti attacchi asmatici non possono utilizzare Periactin.
Possibili effetti collaterali
Interazione farmacologiche
Periactin può interagire con i seguenti medicinali: Selegilina (Eldepryl, Emsam); Isocarboxazid (Marplan); Fenelzina (Nardil), Rasagilina (Azilect); Tranilcipromina (Parnate).
Dose mancata
Se si è dimenticato di prendere la dose in tempo,si prega di farlo non appena se ne si ricorda;non prendere la dose se è troppo tardi o se è quasi tempo per quella successiva. Non assumere doppie o extra dosi. Prendere regolarmente la solita dose il giorno successivo.
Sovradosaggio
Se si pensa di aver assunto una dose eccessiva del farmaco cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza. I sintomi da sovradosaggio sono: estrema sonnolenza, confusione, allucinazioni, bocca molto secca, pupille dilatate, pallore, vomito, o svenimento.
Conservazione
Conservare il farmaco a temperatura ambiente tra i 59-77 gradi F (15-25 gradi C) lontano dalla luce, dall'umidità, dalla portata di bambini e animali domestici.
