Información general
Omnicef es un antibiótico de cefalosporina. Este medicamento se usa para tratar una amplia variedad de infecciones bacterianas. Funciona al detener el crecimiento de bacterias. Este antibiótico sólo cura infecciones bacterianas. No es efectivo para las infecciones virales (resfriado común, gripe). Omnicef se utiliza para tratar la bronquitis, infecciones del oído medio (otitis media), infección de los senos (sinusitis), neumonía, infección de la piel (celulitis), amigdalitis, infección de garganta (faringitis estreptocócica).
Instrucciones
Tome Omnicef exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. La dosis recomendada para la mayoría de tipos de infecciones bacterianas es de 300 mg, dos veces al día durante 5 a 10 días o 600 mg, una vez al día durante 10 días. No tome más de la cantidad máxima recomendada de 600 mg por día. En niños de 6 meses a 12 años, su médico le recetará Omnicef basado en una tabla de peso. La dosis puede variar, dependiendo del peso corporal, de 7 mg / kg, dos veces al día o 14 mg / kg, una vez al día, durante 5 a 10 días. Se puede tomar con o sin comida. Omnicef debe tomarse a la misma hora cada día.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Omnicef usted debe hablar con su médico si usted tiene enfermedad renal o insuficiencia renal, enfermedad intestinal (colitis), algún tipo de alergia. Contraindicaciones

Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: antiácidos probenecid, que contienen aluminio o magnesio, suplementos de hierro (incluyendo multivitamínicos). La interacción entre los dos medicamentos no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina, debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de sobredosis son vómitos, convulsiones, náuseas, dolor de estómago y diarrea.
Almacenamiento
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 59-86 grados F (15-30 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
