LAMIVUDINA; ZIDOVUDINA são dois medicamentos anti-retrovirais num comprimido. Este é utilizado com outros medicamentos para tratar o VIH. Este medicamento não é uma cura para o VIH. Este medicamento não vai parar a propagação do VIH para outros indivíduos.
O que devo dizer ao meu médico antes de tomar este medicamento?
Ele precisa de saber se tem alguma destas condições:
- problemas de sangue ou medula óssea
- doença renal
- doença hepática
- reacção alérgica a lamivudina, zidovudina, outros medicamentos, alimentos, corantes ou conservantes
- está grávida ou a tentar engravidar
- está a amamentar
Como devo tomar este medicamento?
Tome este medicamento por via oral com um copo de água. Pode tomar este medicamento com ou sem alimentos. Tome o seu medicamento em intervalos regulares. Não tome o seu medicamento mais do que indicado. Para a terapia anti-VIH funcionar da melhor forma possível, tome cada dose exactamente como prescrito. Não salte doses ou pare de tomar o seu medicamento mesmo que se sinta melhor. Saltar doses pode fazer com que o vírus HIV se torne resistente a este e outros medicamentos. Não pare de tomar excepto se aconselhado pelo seu médico.
Fale com o seu pediatra se tenciona utilizar estes medicamentos em crianças. Embora este medicamento possa ser prescrito para crianças de 12 anos em determinadas condições, tem de ser aplicadas precauções.
Sobredosagem: Se pensa que poderá ter tomado uma dose superior ao prescrito contacte o Centro de Informação Antivenenos ou os Serviços de Urgência de imediato.

Que fazer se falhei uma toma?
Se esquecer uma dose, tome-a o mais cedo possível. Se estiver quase na hora de tomar a próxima dose, tome apenas essa. Não tome doses duplas ou extras.

- sulfametoxazol, trimetoprim, SMX-TMP
- trimetoprim
- ácido valpróico
- zalcitabina, ddC
Esta lista pode não descrever todas as possíveis interacções. Dê ao seu médico uma lista de todos os medicamentos, ervas, medicamentos sem receita médica, ou suplementos dietéticos que use. Que cuidados devo ter enquanto tomar este medicamento?

O VIH transmite-se através do contacto sexual ou pelo sangue. Fale com seu médico sobre a forma de parar a propagação do VIH.
Se tiver hepatite B fale com o seu médico se pretende parar ou mudar a sua terapia. Os sintomas da hepatite B podem piorar se parar este medicamento.
Não trate severas dores de estômago, náuseas ou vómitos com medicamentos sem prescrição. Fale com o seu médico.
Este medicamento pode causar problemas sanguíneos. Pode ter cura lenta e um maior risco de infecção, enquanto tomar este medicamento. Tente evitar cortar-se ou ferir-se. Tenha cuidado para não danificar os dentes e gengivas quando escovar os dentes ou usar fio dental.
Que efeitos secundários posso notar com a toma deste medicamento?
Efeitos secundários que deve reportar ao seu médico de imediato:
- problemas respiratórios
- depressão
- febre, arrepios, ou dor de garganta
- dores musculares, dores, fraqueza
- dor, formigueiro, dormência nas mãos ou pés
- convulsões
- nódoas negras ou hemorragias invulgares
- invulgarmente fraco ou cansado
- ganho de peso em torno da cintura, costas, ou adelgaçamento da face, braços, pernas
Efeitos secundários que normalmente não requerem atenção médica (diga ao seu médico ou profissional de saúde se persistem, ou se são incómodos):

- tonturas
- cefaleia
- perda de apetite
