Epivir (Lamivudine)
Informazioni generali
Epivir appartiene ad una classe di farmaci noti come inibitori nucleosidici della trascrittasi inversa (NRTI). Epivir viene usato con altri farmaci per il trattamento dell'AIDS e dell'HIV;non si tratta di una cura per l'HIV o per l'AIDS e non previene la diffusione dell'HIV ad altri attraverso rapporti sessuali o contaminazione sanguigna. Questo farmaco può anche essere usato per prevenire l'infezione da HIV dopo il contatto con il virus.
Indicazioni
Assumere Epivir esattamente come prescritto dal medico. Prendere il farmaco per via orale a stomaco pieno o vuoto per una o due volte al giorno. La dose raccomandata per il trattamento di HIV o di AIDS negli adulti è di 150 mg da assumere due volte al giorno o 300 mg una volta al giorno. Per i bambini dai 3 mesi ai 16 anni, la dose raccomandata è in relazione al peso corporeo, circa 4 mg per chilogrammo per due volte al giorno (fino ad un massimo di 150 mg due volte al giorno). Per le persone con problemi renali possono essere raccomandate dosi inferiori. Prendere Epivir al tempo stesso ogni giorno per mantenere lo stesso livello di farmaco nel sangue.
Precauzioni
Prima di iniziare il trattamento informare il proprio medico se si hanno:precedente infiammazione del pancreas (pancreatite)oppure attuali malattie epatiche, insufficienza epatica, cirrosi, epatite, malattie del rene insufficienza renale, eventuali allergie. Questo farmaco può provocare vertigini. Non guidare o svolgere attività che richiedono attenzione. Evitare l'assunzione di bevande alcoliche in quanto l'alcol può aumentare il rischio di problemi al fegato o pancreatite. Informare il proprio medico in caso di gravidanza o d'allattamento.
Controindicazioni
Evitare l'assunzione di Epivir se si è allergici ad esso, a lamivudina, o ad un qualsiasi componente inattivo del farmaco.
Possibili effetti collaterali
Cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza se si hanno:mal di testa, vertigini, nausea, diarrea, disturbi del sonno, strani sogni, depressione, intorpidimento delle mani o dei piedi, debolezza muscolare, mal di stomaco o mal di schiena, sanguinamento, tachicardia, pallore, gonfiore del viso, della lingua o della gola, difficoltà respiratorie, orticaria, ittero (colorazione gialla della pelle o degli occhi), urine scure, perdita di appetito, febbre, brividi, dolori muscolari, dolore alle articolazioni. Se si notano altri effetti non elencati sopra, contattare il medico.
Interazioni farmacologiche
Si informi il medico circa tutti i farmaci in uso, in particolare riguardo a:interferone, ribavirina, zalcitabina, trimetoprim. Si noti inoltre che l'interazione fra due farmaci non necessariamente deve portare ad una sospensione dell'utilizzo di uno dei due farmaci. Si informi il medico circa tutti i farmaci in uso compresi i farmaci da prescrizione,quelli da banco e i prodotti erboristici.
Dose mancata
Prendere la dose dimenticata non appena possibile. Saltare la dose, se è tempo per la dose successiva. Non prendere dosi extra per compensare le dosi dimenticate.
Sovradosaggio
Se si pensa di aver assunto una dose eccessiva del farmaco cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza. I sintomi da sovradosaggio non sono noti.
Conservazione
Conservare il farmaco a temperatura ambiente tra i 59-77 gradi F (15-25 ° C) lontano dalla luce e dall'umidità. Non conservare in bagno. Conservare il farmaco lontano dalla portata dei bambini e degli animali domestici.
