Precauciones
Antes de tomar Symmetrel usted debe hablar con su médico si usted tiene un trastorno psiquiátrico, abuso de sustancias, la insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva, glaucoma, presión arterial baja (hipotensión), hinchazón en manos, pies o tobillos, convulsiones, epilepsia, enfermedades del hígado, insuficiencia hepática , cirrosis, hepatitis, enfermedades renales, insuficiencia renal, eczema, alergias. Este medicamento puede causar mareos, somnolencia o visión borrosa.No conduzca o realice tareas que requieren vigilancia. Levántese despacio y constante para evitar que se caiga. Limite el consumo de las bebidas alcohólicas. El alcohol puede disminuir su presión arterial y puede aumentar algunos de los efectos secundarios. Evite tomar pastillas para adelgazar, pastillas de cafeína u otros estimulantes. Tomar un estimulante junto con amantadina puede aumentar el riesgo de efectos secundarios desagradables. Para minimizar los mareos y aturdimiento, levántese lentamente al levantarse de una posición de sentado o acostado. Las personas de edad avanzada pueden tener un riesgo mayor de padecer efectos secundarios mientras toma este medicamento.
Contraindicaciones
Usted no debe tomar Symmetrel si usted es alérgico al clorhidrato de amantadina, o cualquiera de los componentes inactivos de los medicamentos, está embarazada o amamantando.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Obtenga ayuda médica de emergencia si tiene visión borrosa, náuseas, malestar estomacal, somnolencia, mareos, dolor de cabeza, boca seca, estreñimiento, nerviosismo, dificultad para dormir, urticaria, hinchazón de la cara, labios, lengua, dificultad para respirar, rigidez muscular, peso rápido ganancia, temblor. Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, consulte a su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: fenotiazinas (tioridazina, proclorperazina), diuréticos (hidroclorotiazida, triamtereno), los medicamentos anticolinérgicos (benztropina, escopolamina, haloperidol, diciclomina), los medicamentos antipsicóticos (clorpromazina, tiotixeno, la loxapina), quinidina, mepenzolato, glicopirrolato, la atropina, diciclomina. La interacción entre los dos medicamentos no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico acerca de todos los medicamentos, de venta libre, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que está tomando.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de sobredosis son latidos cardíacos rápidos o irregulares, somnolencia, dificultad para respirar, orinar menos de lo habitual cambios, mental o estado de ánimo, ansiedad, agresión, confusión, alucinaciones, convulsiones, desmayos.
Almacenaje
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 59-77 grados F (15-25 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
