Zovirax est un médicament antiviral. Il ralentit la croissance et la propagation du virus de l'herpès afin que le corps puisse combattre l'infection. Zovirax ne traite pas l'herpès, mais il peut diminuer les symptômes de l'infection.
Posologie
Zovirax peut être pris avec ou sans nourriture. La dose est de 200 mg toutes les 4 heures, cinq fois par jour pendant dix jours. Si vous l’utilisez pour le traitement de l'herpès, la dose pour les adultes doit être de 400 mg deux fois par jour pendant une année. Consultez votre médecin pour un avis médical.
Précautions
Avant de prendre Zovirax, avisez votre médecin si vous avez une maladie des reins ou du foie et si vous êtes enceinte ou prévoyez de devenir enceinte pendant le traitement. Évitez tout contact avec les yeux.
Contre-indications
Ne prenez pas Zovirax si vous êtes sensible aux allergies et si vous avez une maladie des reins.
Effets secondaires possibles
Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez une réaction allergique à Zovirax: l’urticaire, une difficulté à respirer ou une tumeur cutanée, un écœurement , des étourdissements, des maux de tête. Consultez votre médecin pour un avis médical sur les effets secondaires.
Interaction des médicaments
Le médicament interagit avec probénécide (Benemid), Tizanidine, vaccin contre le virus varicelle, fosphénytoïne, phénytoïne, acide valproïque. Ne commencez pas à prendre un nouveau médicament sans en parler à votre médecin.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Surdosage
Cherchez une attention médicale d'urgence si vous pensez que vous avez pris trop de médicament. Les symptômes du surdosage peuvent inclure des convulsions et des délires.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à température ambiante entre 59-77 degrés F (15-25 degrés C). Conservez-le à l'écart de l'humidité et de la lumière. Gardez-le hors de portée des enfants et loin des animaux domestiques.
