Información general
Procardia pertenece a una clase de medicamentos conocidos como bloqueadores de los canales de calcio. Funciona al relajar los vasos sanguíneos para que la sangre pueda fluir más fácilmente. Este medicamento se utiliza para prevenir ciertos tipos de dolor en el pecho (angina). No se debe utilizar para tratar los ataques de dolor en el pecho cuando se producen. Este medicamento también puede usarse para tratar un trastorno de la circulación de la sangre determinado (síndrome de Raynaud).
Instrucciones
Tome Procardia exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. Tome este medicamento por vía oral, generalmente 3 veces al día con o sin alimentos. Trague este medicamento entero. La dosis inicial recomendada para el tratamiento del dolor en el pecho (angina) es de 10 mg tres veces al día. Si es necesario, su médico puede aumentar la dosis (hasta 30 mg cuatro veces al día) para controlar el dolor en el pecho.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Procardia usted debe hablar con su médico si usted tiene enfermedad del corazón, insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva, presión arterial baja, próxima cirugía, la estenosis aórtica, enfermedad renal, enfermedad hepática, algún tipo de alergia. Las personas de edad avanzada parecen ser más sensibles a la medicación. Este medicamento puede causar mareos. No conduzca o realice tareas que requieran estar alerta. Limite el consumo de las bebidas alcohólicas. El alcohol puede bajar aún más la presión arterial y aumento de la somnolencia o mareos. Evite comer toronja o beber jugo de toronja mientras recibe tratamiento con este medicamento.
Contraindicaciones
Usted no debe tomar Procardia si usted es alérgico a éste, la nifedipina, o cualquiera de los componentes inactivos de la droga. Deje que su proveedor de atención médica si usted está embarazada o dando de lactar.
Posibles efectos secundarios
Busque atención médica de emergencia si usted tiene mareos, sofocos, debilidad, inflamación de tobillos o pies, dolor de cabeza, latidos del corazón rápidos o lentos, hinchazón de los labios, lengua, o cara, psicosis, coloración amarillenta de la piel o los ojos (ictericia), náuseas, insomnio , estreñimiento, aumento de la micción. Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, póngase en contacto con su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: cimetidina, antibióticos o antifúngicos (ketoconazol, telitromicina, eritromicina, claritromicina), betabloqueantes (betaxolol, propranolol, metoprolol), digoxina, fármacos con el ritmo cardíaco (quinidina, disopiramida, amiodarona), nefazodona, inhibidores de la proteasa (atazanavir, indinavir, ritonavir, amprenavir), medicamentos anticonvulsivos (fenitoína, felbamato, carbamazepina), anticoagulantes (heparina, enoxaparina, warfarina). La interacción entre dos medicaciones no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico sobre todos los medicamentos, sin receta médica, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que esté tomando.
Dosis omitida
Tome la dosis que olvidó tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que ha tomado mucho de la medicina busque ayuda médica de emergencia a la vez. Los síntomas de sobredosis son: mareos, debilidad, dolor en el pecho, dificultad para respirar, desmayos, latido cardíaco rápido o lento, coma, dificultad para hablar y confusión.
Almacenaje
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 59-77 grados F (15-25 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
