GLIMEPIRIDA ajuda no tratamento da diabetes do tipo 2. O tratamento é complementado com uma dieta e exercício. Este medicamento ajuda o organismo a usar melhor insulina.
O que devo dizer ao meu médico antes de tomar este medicamento?
Ele precisa de saber se tem alguma destas condições:
- cetoacidose diabética
- doença cardíaca
- doença renal
- doença hepática
- infecção ou lesão grave
- doença da tiróide
- reacção alérgica à glimepirida, medicamentos de sulfa, outros medicamentos, alimentos, corantes ou conservantes
- se está grávida ou a tentar engravidar
- se está a amamentar
Como devo tomar este medicamento?
Tome este medicamento por via oral. Engula-o com um copo de água. Tome a dose à mesma hora todos os dias, com o pequeno-almoço ou com primeira refeição principal do dia. Não tome o medicamento mais do que indicado.
Fale com o seu pediatra quanto à utilização deste medicamento em crianças. Cuidados especiais podem ser necessários.
Os idosos com mais de 65 anos podem ter uma reacção mais forte, necessitando de uma dose menor.
Sobredosagem: Se pensa que poderá ter tomado uma dose superior ao prescrito contacte o Centro de Informação Antivenenos ou os Serviços de Urgência de imediato.
NOTA: Este medicamento é apenas para si. Não o partilhe com outros.
Que fazer se falhei uma toma?
Se esquecer uma dose, tome-a assim que possível. Se estiver quase na hora de tomar a próxima dose, tome apenas essa. Não tome doses duplas ou extras.
O que pode interferir com este medicamento?
- bosentano
- cloranfenicol
- cisaprida
- medicamentos para infecções fúngicas
- metoclopramida
- probenecida
- varfarina
Muitos medicamentos podem causar um aumento ou diminuição do açúcar no sangue, estes incluem:
- bebidas que contêm álcool
- aspirina e medicamentos como a aspirina
- cloranfenicol
- crómio
- hormonas femininas, tais como estrogénios ou progesterona, e pílula
- medicamentos para o coração
- isoniazida
- hormonas masculinas ou esteróides anabolizantes
- medicamentos para perda de peso
- medicamentos para as alergias, asma, constipação ou tosse
- medicamentos para problemas mentais
- medicamentos chamados inibidores da MAO como Nardil, Parnate, Marplan, Eldepryl
- niacina

Esta lista pode não descrever todas as possíveis interacções. Dê ao seu médico uma lista de todos os medicamentos, ervas, medicamentos sem receita médica, ou suplementos dietéticos que use. Indique-lhe também se fuma, bebe álcool ou usa drogas ilegais. Alguns destes podem interferir com o seu medicamento.
Que cuidados devo ter enquanto tomar este medicamento?
Visite o seu médico regularmente para um controlo do seu progresso. Aprenda a controlar o açúcar no sangue. Informe o seu médico se o seu nível de açúcar no sangue estiver alto, pode precisar de alterar a sua dose do medicamento. Se está doente ou realiza mais exercício do que o habitual, pode ser necessário alterar a dose do seu medicamento. Não salte refeições. Confirme com o seu médico se deve evitar o consumo de álcool. Se tiver sintomas de uma diminuição de açúcar no sangue, coma ou beba algo que contenha açúcar e contacte o seu médico. Certifique-se que os seus familiares sabem que se pode engasgar se comer ou beber algo quando tiver sintomas graves de diminuição de açúcar no sangue, como convulsões ou desmaios. Devem recorrer a ajuda médica rapidamente.
Este medicamento pode torná-lo mais sensível ao sol. Mantenha-se fora do sol. Se não puder evitar a exposição ao sol, utilize roupas protectoras e protector solar. Não utilize solários.
Use uma pulseira médica de identificação a dizer que tem diabetes e tenha uma lista com todos os seus medicamentos.
Que efeitos secundários posso notar com a toma deste medicamento?
Efeitos secundários que deve reportar ao seu médico de imediato:
- dificuldades respiratórias
- urina amarela escura ou castanha, ou amarelecimento dos olhos ou da pele
- febre, arrepios, dor de garganta
- baixo nível de açúcar no sangue (peça ao seu médico uma lista destes sintomas)
- erupções cutâneas graves, vermelhidão, inchaço ou comichão
- invulgares hemorragias ou nódoas negras
Efeitos secundários que normalmente não requerem atenção médica (diga ao seu médico ou profissional de saúde se persistem, ou se são incómodos):
- diarreia
- cefaleia
- azia
- náuseas, vómitos
- desconforto no estômago

Onde devo guardar o meu medicamento?
Mantenha-o fora do alcance das crianças.
Guarde-o em local com temperatura ambiente inferior a 30º C (86º F). Deite fora qualquer medicamento após a sua data de validade.
