Glucotrol Xl (Glipizide)
Informazioni generali
Glucotrol Xl è un farmaco anti-diabetico (sulfonilurea-tipo) da utilizzare insieme ad una corretta alimentazione e ad un programmato esercizio fisico per controllare il livello della glicemia.Il farmaco viene usato nei pazienti con diabete di tipo 2 (non insulino-dipendente diabete). Agisce stimolando il rilascio di insulina naturale presente nel nostro corpo. Un elevato controllo deli livello di zuccheri presenti nel sangue aiuta a prevenire danni renali, cecità, problemi nervosi, perdita di arti e disfunzioni sessuali. Un adeguato controllo del diabete può anche ridurre il rischio di un attacco di cuore o di ictus.
Indicazioni
Assumere Glucotrol Xl esattamente come prescritto dal medico. Prendere questo farmaco per via orale, di solito una volta al giorno al momento della colazione. La dose iniziale raccomandata è di 5 mg una volta al giorno. La dose può essere aumentata, se necessario, per controllare gli zuccheri nel sangue (fino a 20 mg da prendere una volta al giorno). Glucotrol Xl deve essere assunto ogni giorno all'incirca alla stessa ora. Monitorare regolarmente i livelli di glucosio nel sangue.
Precauzioni
Prima di iniziare ad assumere il farmaco informare il proprio medico se si hanno:malattie epatiche, malattie renali, malattie della tiroide, alcune particolari condizioni ormonali, squilibrio elettrolitico (iponatriemia), problemi intestinali o dello stomaco . L'assunzione di Gluctrol Xl può causare visione offuscata, vertigini o sonnolenza. Non guidare o svolgere attività che richiedono attenzione. Limitare l'assunzione di alcool durante l'assunzione del farmaco in quanto può aumentare il rischio di sviluppare ipoglicemia.
Controindicazioni
Non utilizzare Glucotrol Xl se si è allergici al glipizide o se si è in uno stato di chetoacidosi diabetica. Informare il medico anche in caso di gravidanza o allattamento.
Possibili effetti collaterali
Cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza se si hanno:nausea, vomito, perdita di appetito, diarrea, costipazione, disturbi di stomaco, gas, cefalea, aumento di peso, mal di gola, urine scure, stanchezza insolita, debolezza, cambiamenti di umore o della psiche, gonfiore delle mani o dei piedi, convulsioni, visione offuscata, vertigini, tremori, tachicardia, aumento della minzione, respirazione rapida, eruzioni cutanee, prurito, gonfiore. Se si notano altri effetti non elencati sopra, contattare il medico.
Interazioni farmacologiche
Si informi il medico circa tutti i farmaci in uso, in particolare riguardo a:diuretici, steroidi (prednisone), fenotiazine (Compazine), isoniazide, farmaci per il trattamento dell asma, raffreddore o allergie, pillole dimagranti, farmaci contro le crisi (Dilantin), pillole anticoncezionali, farmaci per la tiroide (Synthroid), farmaci anti-infiammatori non steroidei, aspirina, sulfamidici (Bactrim), inibitori della monoamino-ossidasi, beta-bloccanti (Tenormin), fluconazolo, probenecid, fluidificanti del sangue (warfarin) .Si noti inoltre che l'interazione fra due farmaci non necessariamente deve portare ad una sospensione dell'utilizzo di uno dei due farmaci. Si informi il medico circa tutti i farmaci in uso compresi i farmaci da prescrizione,quelli da banco e i prodotti erboristici.
Dose mancata
Prendere la dose dimenticata non appena possibile. Saltare la dose, se è tempo per la dose successiva. Non prendere dosi extra per compensare le dosi dimenticate.
Sovradosaggio
Se si pensa di aver assunto una dose eccessiva del farmaco cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza. I sintomi da sovradosaggio sono:offuscamento della vista, convulsioni, estrema debolezza, mal di stomaco, difficoltà a parlare, tremori, sudorazione, tremore, tachicardia, sudorazione, perdita di coscienza.
Conservazione
Conservare il farmaco a temperatura ambiente tra i 68-77 gradi F (20-25 ° C) lontano dalla luce e dall'umidità. Non conservare in bagno. Tenere il farmaco lontano dalla portata di bambini ed animali domestici.
