Prilosec se usa para tratar los síntomas de la enfermedad por reflujo gastroesofágico (ERGE) y otras enfermedades causadas por exceso de ácido estomacal. También se utiliza para promover la curación de la esofagitis erosiva (daño al esófago causado por el ácido del estómago). Prilosec también se puede administrar junto con antibióticos para tratar la úlcera gástrica causada por la infección con Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).
Instrucciones
Tome Prilosec exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. No tome en cantidades mayores o menores, o por más tiempo del recomendado.Prilosec se suele tomar antes de comer. Prilosec debe tomarse sólo una vez cada 24 horas durante 14 días. Tome el medicamento por la mañana antes de desayunar. Puede tomar hasta 4 días para un efecto completo.No tome más de un comprimido cada 24 horas. La dosis recomendada para el tratamiento de úlcera duodenal es de 20 mg durante 4 a 8 semanas. La dosis recomendada para las úlceras de estómago (úlceras gástricas) es de 40 mg una vez al día durante 4 a 8 semanas. La dosis recomendada para la enfermedad por reflujo gastroesofágico es de 20 mg una vez al día durante un máximo de 4 semanas.
Precauciones
Usted debe hablar con su médico antes de tomar Prilosec si usted tiene: enfermedad del hígado, cirrosis, hipomagnesemia, alergias, enfermedades del corazón. Tomando un inhibidor de la bomba de protones, como Prilosec puede aumentar el riesgo de fractura ósea en la cadera, muñeca o columna vertebral. Este efecto se ha producido sobre todo en personas que han tomado el medicamento a largo plazo o en dosis altas, y en aquellos que son mayores de 50 años. Dígale a su médico acerca de todos los medicamentos que está tomando, incluyendo medicamentos recetados y sin receta, vitaminas y productos herbarios.
Contraindicaciones
Usted no debe tomar Prilosec si usted es alérgico al omeprazol, embarazada o amamantando.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Llame a su médico de inmediato si usted tiene cualquiera de estos síntomas: urticaria, convulsiones, confusión, pérdida de la tos, mareos, calambres musculares, náusea, latido cardiaco rápido o irregular, dolor de estómago, dolor de cabeza, diarrea, dificultad para respirar, hipomagnesemia, huesos rotos, de apetito, boca seca, insomnio, visión borrosa, anemia. Si usted experimenta alguno de los efectos secundarios mencionados anteriormente debe dejar de tomar Prilosec.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: anticoagulantes (warfarina), diuréticos, diazepam, disulfiram, cilostazol, clopidogrel, digoxina, el VIH o SIDA (atazanavir, saquinavir), tacrolimus, fenitoína, ciclosporina, ketoconazol, ampicilina,rifampicina, voriconazol.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de sobredosis son taquicardia, somnolencia, náuseas, boca seca, visión borrosa, dolor de cabeza, vómitos.
Almacenamiento
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 59-77 grados F (15-25 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
