Tegretol (carbamazépine) est un anticonvulsivant. Il agit en diminuant l'influx nerveux qui provoque des convulsions et des douleurs. Il est utilisé pour traiter l'épilepsie et la névralgie du trijumeau. La carbamazépine est également utilisé pour traiter le trouble bipolaire.
Posologie
Prenez ce médicament conformément aux prescriptions de votre médecin. Utilisez-le chaque jour avec un verre plein d'eau, avec ou sans nourriture. N’écrasez pas, ne mâchez pas ou ne cassez pas le comprimé. La dose recommandée pour les adultes et les enfants de plus de 12 ans est de 200 mg deux fois par jour. Pour les enfants âgés de 6 à 12 ans, la dose recommandée est de 100 mg deux fois par jour.
Précautions
Veuillez aviser votre médecin si vous avez une maladie cardiaque, l'arythmie, une maladie de foie ou des reins, des allergies. Avertissez votre conseiller en santé si vous êtes enceinte ou si vous allaitez. Les personnes âgées peuvent être plus sensibles aux effets secondaires du médicament.
Contre-indications
N’utilisez pas ce médicament si vous y êtes allergique.
Effets secondaires possibles
Les effets secondaires de Tegretol les plus courants incluent des étourdissements, une somnolence, des nausées, des vomissements. Les effets secondaires graves sont: des hallucinations, une dépression, l’anémie, l'hypertension ou l’hypotension. Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez un de ces effets secondaires.
Interaction des médicaments
Tegretol peut interagir avec plusieurs autres médicaments: les antibiotiques (érythromycine, kétoconazole, itraconazole), les antipsychotiques (par exemple, la ziprasidone, la clozapine), la cyclosporine, la théophylline etc. Consultez votre médecin ou votre pharmacien pour des informations supplémentaires.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Surdosage
Si vous pensez que vous avez une surdose du médicament cherchez de l'aide médicale d'urgence immédiatement. Les symptômes de surdose sont des douleurs thoraciques, des nausées, des battements cardiaques irréguliers, des vertiges légers ou un évanouissement.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à la température ambiante entre 68-77 degrés F (20-25 degrés C). Conservez-le à l'écart de l'humidité et de la lumière. Gardez-le hors de la portée des enfants et loin des animaux domestiques.
