Información general
Antivert es un antihistamínico que se utiliza para prevenir o tratar las náuseas, vómitos y mareos causados por el movimiento. También puede ser utilizado para reducir mareos, vértigo y pérdida del equilibrio (vértigo) causados por las enfermedades que afectan el oído interno. Funciona mediante el bloqueo de los receptores de histamina y la acetilcolina.
Instrucciones
Tome Antivert exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. Para prevenir y tratar el mareo por movimiento, la dosis de prescripción de Antivert estándar es de 25 mg a 50 mg tomada una hora antes del embarque, que se repite cada 24 horas si es necesario. Antivert por lo general funciona mejor si se toma antes de los síntomas de la enfermedad de comenzar al movimiento. Para tratar el vértigo, la dosis estándar es de 25 mg a 100 mg en total por día, repartida en dos (o más) pequeñas dosis por día. Tome Antivert con un vaso lleno de agua, con alimentos o con el estómago vacío.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Antivert usted debe hablar con su médico si tiene agrandamiento de la próstata, al orinar con dificultad, la enfermedad de Alzheimer, asma, tiroides hiperactiva (hipertiroidismo), enfermedad cardíaca, presión arterial alta (hipertensión), enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica, glaucoma, úlcera de estómago, enfermedad del reflujo gastroesofágico (ERGE), algún tipo de alergia. Este medicamento puede provocar somnolencia o visión borrosa. No conduzca o realice tareas que requieren vigilancia. Limite el consumo de las bebidas alcohólicas.
Contraindicaciones
Usted no debe tomar Antivert si usted es alérgico a el, a la meclizina clorhidrato, o cualquiera de los componentes inactivos de este medicamento, o si usted está embarazada o amamantando. No se recomienda para niños menores de 12 años de edad.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Obtenga ayuda médica de emergencia si usted tiene cambios en la visión, disminución o dolor al orinar, convulsiones, erupciones, picazón, hinchazón, mareos, dificultad para respirar, la boca seca, náusea, diarrea, dolor abdominal, aumento del apetito, dolor de garganta, aumento de peso, frecuencia cardíaca rápida (taquicardia), latido irregular del corazón, confusión, glaucoma, sibilancias. Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, consulte a su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: antihistamínicos aplicados a la piel (crema de difenhidramina, pomada, spray), antiespasmódicos (atropina, alcaloides de belladona), medicamentos para la enfermedad de Parkinson (benztropina, trihexifenidilo), escopolamina, antidepresivos tricíclicos (amitriptilina ), medicamentos inhibidor de la acetilcolinesterasa (galantamina, donepezilo), los medicamentos de fenotiazina (flufenazina, tioridazina, trifluoperazina). La interacción entre los dos medicamentos no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico sobre todos los medicamentos, de venta libre-, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que está tomando.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de sobredosis son los cambios mentales o del estado de ánimo, somnolencia extrema, pérdida del conocimiento, convulsiones.
Almacenamiento
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 68-77 grados F (20-25 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
