Meclizine est un antihistaminique et anticholinergique. Il agit en bloquant un messager chimique dans le cerveau, ce qui aide à réduire ou empêcher les vomissements. Meclizine est utilisé pour traiter ou empêcher les nausées, les vomissements et les étourdissements provoqués par le mal des transports. Il est également utilisé pour traiter des vertiges (étourdissements) dûs à certains problèmes de l'oreille interne.
Posologie
Utilisez ce médicament conformément aux prescriptions de votre médecin. Ne l'utilisez pas en plus grandes quantités ou pour plus longtemps que recommandé. Prenez Meclizine avec un verre plein d'eau. Pour prévenir le mal des transports, prenez la dose de 25 à 50 mg environ 1 heure avant votre voyage ou l’engagement dans une activité qui provoque le mal des transports. Pour traiter le vertige, vous pouvez avoir besoin de prendre Meclizine plusieurs fois par jour. La dose recommandée est de 25 à 100 mg par jour, en prises distinctes.
Précautions
Si vous prenez ce médicament, soyez prudent en conduisant une automobile ou en utilisant des machines dangereuses. Ne l’utilisez pas sans l’avis médical si vous allaitez un bébé. Vous devez éviter de boire de l’alcool pendant que vous prenez ce médicament.
Contre-indications
Vous ne devriez pas prendre ce médicament si vous êtes allergique à Meclizine, ou si vous souffrez d'asthme, de glaucome, des problèmes de la miction,de l'élargissement de la prostate. Le médicament n'est pas recommandé pour les enfants de moins de 12 ans.
Effets secondaires possibles
Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez un de ces signes d'une réaction allergique: l’urticaire, des difficultés respiratoires, le gonflement du visage, des lèvres, de la langue. Les effets secondaires moins graves peuvent inclure: une vision floue, une rétention urinaire, une pression artérielle basse, la bouche sèche, des vertiges, une somnolence.
Interaction des médicaments
L'alcool, les sédatifs et les tranquillisants peuvent augmenter la somnolence provoquée par Meclizine. Informez votre médecin de tous les médicaments sur ordonnance et en vente libre, des vitamines, des minéraux, des produits à base de plantes que vous utilisez. Ne commencez pas à prendre un nouveau médicament sans consulter au préalable votre médecin.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée. Parfois Meclizine est prise seulement au besoin, alors vous pouvez ne pas être sur un calendrier de dosage.
Surdosage
Si vous pensez que vous avez une surdose du médicament, cherchez de l’aide médicale d'urgence immédiatement. Les symptômes du surdosage peuvent inclure la somnolence extrême.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à la température ambiante entre 15-30 C (59-86 F) à l’abri de la lumière, la chaleur et de l'humidité.
