Información general

Instrucciones
Tome este medicamento exactamente como su médico se lo haya recetado. Debe seguir detenidamente todas las direcciones. Evite sobrepasar la dosis o tomar el medicamento por más tiempo de lo que fue aconsejado por su médico. La dosis estándar recomendada de la medroxiprogesterona es de 5 o 10 mg diarios. Amenorrea se trató durante 5 a 10 días. El sangrado uterino anormal es tratado durante 5 a 10 días a partir del día 16 o 21 del ciclo menstrual. La hiperplasia endometrial se trata de 12 a 14 días.
Precauciones
Consulte a su médico en caso de que usted es hipersensible a la de acetato de medroxiprogesterona, en caso de que usted está embarazada o en periodo de lactancia. Evite fumar o consumir bebidas alcohólicas mientras esté tomando este medicamento. Siga las instrucciones de su médico acerca del tipo y la cantidad de líquidos, alimentos, suplementos alimenticios y otros medicamentos que se le permite tomar al mismo tiempo con este medicamento.
Contraindicaciones
Este medicamento está contraindicado en pacientes que sufren de tromboflebitis, trastornos tromboembólicos, apoplejía cerebral, enfermedad hepática o renal, cáncer de mama la diabetes, el cáncer de útero, sangrado vaginal excesivo, aborto retenido, hipersensibilidad al acetato de medroxiprogesterona. Medroxiprogesterona es capaz de inhibir la fertilidad y está contraindicado en mujeres embarazadas.
Posibles efectos secundarios
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Este medicamento es capaz de interactuar con aminoglutetimida (Cytadren). Se puede provocar la eliminación de la medroxiprogesterona por el hígado. Esta interacción resulta en la disminución de la concentración de la medroxiprogesterona en la sangre, por lo tanto, reduce la eficacia de la medroxiprogesterona.
Dosis omitida
En caso de haber perdido a tomar una dosis de este medicamento, tómela tan pronto como sea posible. Si ya está supuesta a tomar la siguiente dosis, no tome la dosis que olvidó y mantenga a su horario de dosificación normal. No tome dos dosis a la vez.
Sobredosis
Si usted cree que tiene una sobredosis del medicamento, comuníquese inmediatamente con su centro local de envenenamiento y notifique a su médico o farmacéutico. Haga esto aun cuando no hay signos de malestar o intoxicación. Es posible que necesite atención médica urgente.
