Periactin est le médicament prescrit pour le traitement des symptômes de l’allergie tels que rhume des foins, vomissements, nausée, vertiges. C’est un antihistaminique. Il fonctionne en bloquant les effets de l’histamine, produite par le corps. Aussi ce médicament peut être prescrit pour le traitement du névralgisme facial et pour stimuler l'appétit chez les personnes de bas poids.
Posologie
Il est recommandé de prendre le médicament selon l’ordonnance du médecin. Administrez-le avec un verre d’eau plein. Ne dépassez pas la dose. Habituellement, la dose recommandée pour les adultes est de 4 mg 3 fois par jour. Elle peut varier jusqu'à 20 mg par jour. La dose recommandée pour les enfants est de 4 mg par jour.
Précautions
Utilisez le médicament avec prudence. Il peut vous rendre somnolent ou compromettre votre coordination. Avant de commencer le traitement prévenez votre médecin si vous souffrez de l'asthme bronchique, du glaucome, de la glande thyroïde hyperactive, de l'hypertension artérielle, des maladies cardiaques ou des problèmes circulatoires.
Contre-indications
Les femmes qui allaitent, les patients avec une sensibilité au chlorhydrate de cyproheptadine ou aux drogues avec une structure chimique similaire; l'obstruction pyloroduodénale, l’ulcère peptique sténosant, l’hypertrophie symptomatique de la prostate, la prédisposition à la rétention urinaire ou d'obstruction du col vésical; la thérapie pour une crise d'asthme aiguë; le glaucome ne peuvent pas utiliser le médicament.
Effets secondaires possibles
Intéraction des médicaments
Periactin peut interagir avec les médicaments suivants: selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam); isocarboxazide (Marplan); phénelzine (Nardil); rasagiline (Azilect); tranylcypromine (Parnate).
Omission de dose
Si vous avez oublié de prendre votre dose à temps, veuillez le faire dès que vous vous en souvenez. Mais ne la prenez pas si c'est trop tard ou presque temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses doubles ou supplémentaires. Reprenez votre dose habituelle le jour suivant selon le schéma posologique usuel.

Conservation
Conservez le médicament à température de la pièce entre 59-77 F (15-25 C), hors de l'humidité et de la lumière du soleil, des enfants et des animaux.
