Duricef (o Cefadroxilo) es un antibiótico semisintético de amplio espectro, de frupo de cefalosporinas de primera generación. Es eficaz contra las infecciones bacterianas gram-positivas y Gram-negativas. Está dirigido para tratar o prevenir una serie de infecciones causadas por bacterias. Funciona a través de interferir con la formación de las bacterias de la pared celular. Duricef se utiliza para moderar las infecciones provocadas por la bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes que causa la enfermedad conocida como faringitis estreptocócica o la amigdalitis estreptocócica, infección del tracto urinario, infección del tracto reproductivo e infecciones cutáneas.
Instrucciones
Tome este medicamento exactamente como su médico se lo haya recetado. Usted debe seguir cuidadosamente todas las instrucciones dadas a usted. Evite sobrepasar la dosis o tomar el medicamento por más tiempo de lo que fue aconsejado por su médico. Trague el comprimido entero con un vaso lleno de agua. Este medicamento no se mastica, se aplasta o se rompe mientras lo esté tomando. En general, la dosis recomendada es de 1-2 mg administrada una vez o dos veces al día.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Duricef dígale a su médico o farmacéutico si usted es alérgico a las penicilinas o otros cefalosporinas. Este producto puede contener ingredientes inactivos que pueden causar reacciones alérgicas. Este medicamento se prescribe con precaución si su anamnesis contiene una historia de enfermedad renal grave, enfermedad intestinal (colitis). Este medicamento debe usarse sólo cuando sea claramente necesario durante el embarazo. Discuta los riesgos y beneficios con su médico. No beba alcohol mientras esté tratado con Duricef ya que puede causar la interacción. Preste atención a la posibilidad de padecer de colitis seudomembranosa (una inflamación del colon causada por la erradicación de la flora intestinal normal por los antibióticos). Siga las instrucciones de su médico acerca del tipo y la cantidad de líquidos, alimentos, suplementos alimenticios y otros medicamentos que están autorizados a tomar.
Contraindicaciones
Duricef está contraindicado en pacientes que presentan hipersensibilidad a cualquier componente de la medicina y otros antibióticos beta-lactámicos. Este medicamento se administra con precaución en pacientes que sufren de insuficiencia renal crónica y la colitis. Duricef no se le da a las mujeres embarazadas y lactantes o niños de ocho años y menores de menos que lo indique el pediatra.
Posibles efectos secundarios
Los efectos secundarios más habituales son: náuseas, vómitos, diarrea, reacciones alérgicas como erupción cutánea o urticarias, hinchazón de la cara o lengua, dificultad al tragar, coleitis e inflamación del intestino. Esto no es una lista completa de todos los posibles efectos secundarios. Otros pueden ocurrir en algunas personas y puede haber algunos efectos secundarios que no se conocen todavía. En caso de que se han experimentado efectos secundarios no mencionados anteriormente, notifique inmediatamente a su médico o al centro de intoxicaciones local.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Duricef es capaz de interactuar con polymixines y aminoglucósidos que aumentan su toxicidad. Las plaquetas y los inhibidores de la agregación no esteroides antiinflamatorios utilizados junto con con Duricef pueden provocar sangrado.
Dosis omitida
Nunca tome dos dosis de este producto a la vez. En caso de que usted tome Durisef una vez al día no tome la dosis olvidada y tome la medicina tan pronto como sea posible, usted puede tomar la siguiente dosis en 10-12 horas. Si usted toma Durisef dos veces por día la ingesta de dosis se administra dentro del intervalo de 5-6 horas.
Sobredosis
Si usted sospecha que ha usado demasiado de este medicamento, busque atención médica de emergencia inmediatamente. Haga esto aun cuando no hay signos de malestar o intoxicación. Es posible que necesite atención médica urgente. Los síntomas más comunes de sobredosis incluyen: convulsiones, reacciones alérgicas como erupción cutánea, urticaria, picazón, hinchazón de la lengua, cara, labios, garganta y colpitis. Si cualquiera de estos efectos persisten o empeoran, notifique a su médico o farmacéutico.
Almacenaje
Este medicamento se almacena en un lugar fresco y seco a temperatura entre 15-25 C (59-77 F), lejos de fuentes de luz del sol, el calor y la humedad. No guarde este medicamento en el baño. Mantenga este producto fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas. La suspensión debe utilizarse durante dos semanas después de que ha sido preparada y se mantiene en un refrigerador.
