A CEFALEXINA é um antibiótico cefalosporino. Destrói ou detém o crescimento de alguns tipos de bactéria. Este medicamento é utilizado no tratamento de muitas infecções. Não tem acção em constipações, gripe ou outras infecções virais.
O que devo dizer ao meu médico antes de tomar este medicamento?
Ele precisa de saber se tem alguma destas condições:
- doenças renais
- doenças de estômago ou de intestinos, como colite
- uma reacção alérgica anormal à cefalexina, outros cefalosporinos, penicilinas, outros antibióticos,medicamentos, alimentos, corantes, ou conservantes
- se está grávida ou a tentar engravidar
- se está a amamentar
Como devo tomar este medicamento?
Este medicamento deve ser tomado por via oral, com um copo de água. Pode tomar este medicamento em jejum ou acompanhando alimentos. Tome as doses prescritas a intervalos regulares, conforme indicado pelo seu médico. Não tome mais doses deste medicamento do que as indicadas pelo seu médico. Tome este medicamento pelo período e como indicado pelo seu médico mesmo que se começe a sentir melhor. Não deixe de tomar prematuramente este medicamento nem se esqueça de tomar algumas das doses.
Consulte um pediatra relativamente à administração deste medicamento a crianças. Embora este medicamento possa ser indicado em determinadas circunstâncias, podem ser necessárias precauções especiais.
Sobredosagem: Se pensa que poderá ter tomado uma dose superior ao prescrito contacte o Centro de Informação Antivenenos ou os Serviços de Urgência de imediato.
NOTA: Este medicamento é apenas para si. Não o partilhe com outros.
Que fazer se falhei uma toma?
Se falhar uma toma, tome-a assim que puder. Se estiver quase na altura de tomar outra dose, tome apenas essa dose. Nunca tome duas doses deste medicamento. Deverá fazer um intervalo entre tomas de 4 a 6 horas, no mínimo.
O que pode interferir com este medicamento?
- probenecida
- outros antibióticos
Esta lista pode não descrever todas as interacções possíveis. Indique ao seu médico todos os medicamentos, ervas, medicamentos de venda livre, ou suplementos alimentares que usa. Diga-lhe também se fuma, se bebe, ou usa drogas ilegais. Alguns destes podem interagir com o seu medicamento.
Que cuidados devo ter enquanto tomar este medicamento?
Informe o seu médico se os seus sintomas se agravarem ou se não melhorarem em alguns dias.
Não trate a diarreia com produtos de venda livre. Contacte o seu médico se tiver diarreia por mais de 2 dias ou se é muito grave ou liquefeita.
Se tem diabetes, poderá apresentar um resultado falso positivo de açúcar na urina. Confira com o seu médico.
Que efeitos secundários posso notar com a toma deste medicamento?
Efeitos secundários que deve reportar ao seu médico de imediato:
- reacções alérgicas como erupção cutânea, pruridos, urticária, inchaço da face, lábios ou língua
- problemas respiratórios
- dor ou dificuldade em urinar
- vermelhidão, bolhas, queda de pele, incluindo no interior da boca
- diarreia grave ou liquefeita
- fraqueza ou cansaço anormais
- amarelecimento dos olhos ou da pele
Efeitos secundários que normalmente não requerem atenção médica (diga ao seu médico ou profissional de saúde se persistem, ou se são incómodos):
- gases ou azia
- irritação genital ou anal
- dores de cabeça
- dores musculares ou das articulações
- náuseas, vómitos

Onde devo guardar o meu medicamento?
Mantenha-o fora do alcance das crianças.
Guarde este medicamento em lugar seco, a uma temperatura ambiente entre os 15 e 30 graus Centígrados (59 e 86 graus Fahrenheit). Deite fora as cápsulas não utilizadas após expirar o prazo de validade do medicamento.
