Geodon è un farmaco antipsicotico. Il farmaco agisce cambiando gli effetti delle sostanze chimiche presenti nel cervello. Geodon viene usato per il trattamento della schizofrenia e dei sintomi maniacali causati dal disturbo bipolare (depressione maniacale) in adulti e bambini che hanno compiuto almeno 10 anni. Geodono può migliorare i sintomi della schizofrenia quali: allucinazioni, deliri e pensiero disorganizzato.
Indicazioni
Assumere Geodon esattamente come prescritto dal medico. Solitamente il farmaco è da prendere due volte al giorno a stomaco pieno anche se solamente il medico può determinare la dose corretta. La dose giornaliera iniziale per gli adulti è di 40 mg due volte al giorno da assumere a stomaco pieno. La dose può essere aumentata fino a 60 mg -8 0 mg da assumere due volte al giorno.
Precauzioni
Geodon non deve essere usato per condizioni psicotiche legate alla demenza. Geodon può causare insufficienza cardiaca, morte improvvisa, o polmonite negli anziani con condizioni legate alla demenza. Evitare di bere alcol durante il trattamento con Geodon.
Controindicazioni
Informi il medico se si è incinta o se si sta pianificando una gravidanza durante il trattamento. Non utilizzare Geodon se avete avuto infarto acuto del miocardio, insufficienza cardiaca, diabete, ipersensibilità al prodotto, se si prendono antibiotici, farmaci anti-malaria, farmaci per il trattamento di disturbi psichiatrici, farmaci stupefacenti (metadone).
Possibili effetti collaterali
Gli effetti collaterali più comuni sono :diarrea, vertigini, vomito, debolezza, cefalea, tosse, naso che cola, perdita di appetito, nausea, disturbi di stomaco. Consultare immediatamente il medico se si manifesta uno qualsiasi di questi effetti indesiderati: reazioni allergiche, diminuita capacità sessuale cambiamenti d'umore, disturbi visivi o mentali, erezione dolorosa, febbre. Chiamare il medico per un consiglio più specifico circa gli effetti collaterali.
Interazioni farmacologiche
Geodon può interagire con:Quinidex (chinidina), Orap (pimozide), Betapace (sotalolo), Mellaril (tioridazina), Avelox (moxifloxacina) o Zagam (sparfloxacina). Eritromicina, fluoxetina, itraconazolo (può causare aumenti dei livelli di ziprasidone o problemi cardiaci). Non iniziare ad assumere un nuovo farmaco senza prima averlo riferito al medico.
Dose mancata
Prendere la dose dimenticata non appena possibile. Saltare la dose, se è tempo per la dose successiva. Non prendere dosi extra per compensare le dosi dimenticate.
Sovradosaggio
Se si pensa di aver assunto una dose eccessiva del farmaco cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza o bere un bicchiere di latte. I sintomi da sovradosaggio possono includere: sonnolenza, vertigini, svenimenti, battito cardiaco accelerato, ansia.
Conservazione
Conservare il farmaco a temperatura ambiente tra i 59-86 gradi F (15-30 gradi C) lontano dalla luce e dall'umidità. Conservare lontano dalla portata dei bambini e animali domestici.
