Seroquel è un farmaco antipsicotico. Agisce cambiando il metodo d’azione di alcune sostanze chimiche nel cervello. È indicato per il trattamento della schizofrenia negli adulti ed è anche usato per il trattamento di depressione maniacale. Seroquel è usato in concomitanza con farmaci antidepressivi nel trattamento del disturbo depressivo acuto negli adulti.
Indicazioni
È necessario assumere Seroquel come prescritto dal medico. Prendere il farmaco con un bicchiere d'acqua, indifferentemente a stomaco pieno o vuoto. Non schiacciare, masticare o rompere la compressa a rilascio prolungato; inghiottire la pillola intera. La rottura della pilola potrebbe comportare che una dose eccessiva del farmaco venga rilasciata in una sola volta anzichè a lento rilascio. La dose da assumere il primo giorno di utilizzo del farmaco è diversa rispetto a quelle che saranno le dosi successive. Seguire le indicazioni riportate sul foglietto illustrativo.
Precauzioni
Seroquel non fatto per essere utilizzato per le condizioni psicotiche legate alla demenza. Il farmaco può causare insufficienza cardiaca o morte improvvisa. Informare il proprio medico se si soffre di malattie epatiche o renali, malattie cardiache, diabete o disturbo della tiroide. Seroquel può danneggiare le capacità mnemoniche e di pensiero e modificare i tempi di reazione.
Controindicazioni
Questo farmaco è contoindicato in caso di Allergia ad esso o ad uno dei suoi componenti, in caso di gravidanza e allattamento al seno. Questo farmaco può causare insufficienza cardiaca e morte improvvisa.
Possibili effetti collaterali
Cercare assistenza medica se si presentano reazioni allergiche, cambiamento di umore o di comportamento, ansia, attacchi di panico, disturbi del sonno, diarrea, sensazione di impulsività, irritabilità, agitazione, ostilità, aggressività, irrequietezza, iperattività,maggiore depressione o pensieri di suicidio o di autolesionismo.
Interazioni farmacologiche
Il farmaco può interagire con alcuni antidolorifici,con i farmaci per ipertensione e con le loro componenti aggiuntive come: ossicodone e paracetamolo. Seroquel può inoltre interagire con i farmaci che influenzano il lavoro del citocromo P450, responsabile del metabolismo, può infatti risultare tossico.

Conservazione
Conservare il farmaco a temperatura ambiente tra i 15-30 °C (59-86 F). Conservare lontano da umidità e luce. Tenere fuori dalla portata dei bambini e lontano da animali domestici.
