AMANTADINA é um antiviral. É usado para prevenir e tratar um tipo específico de gripe chamado influenza A. Não funciona em tratamentos de constipações, outros tipos de gripe, ou outras infecções virais. Este medicamento é também usado para tratar a doença de Parkinson e outros distúrbios do movimento.
O que devo dizer ao meu médico antes de tomar este medicamento??
Este precisa de saber se tem alguma destas condições:
- glaucoma
- depressão ou outra doença mental
- eczema
- problemas de coração ou circulação
- doença nos rins
- doença no fígado
- convulsões
- uma reacção alérgica ou estranha a amantadine, rimantadine, outros medicamentos, alimentos, corantes, ou conservantes
- se está grávida ou a tentar engravidar
- se está a amamentar
Como tomar este medicamento?
Tomar este medicamento via oral com um copo de água. Tome o seu medicamento em intervalos regulares. Não tomar o medicamento mais vezes do que o prescrito. Tome o medicamento como lhe foi receitado mesmo que pense estar melhor. Não saltar doses ou acabar de tomar o medicamento antes do previsto.
Fale com o seu pediatra squanto à utilização deste medicamento em crianças. Apesar deste medicamento poder ser receitado a crianças com um ano por motivos seleccionados, cuidados especiais aplicam-se.
Sobredosagem: Se pensa que poderá ter tomado uma dose superior ao prescrito contacte o Centro de Informação Antivenenos ou os Serviços de Urgência de imediato.
NOTA: Este medicamento é apenas para si. Não o partilhe com outros.
Que fazer se falhei uma toma?
Se falhar uma dose, tome-a o mais rapidamente possível. Se for quase altura da sua próxima dose, use apenas essa. Não redobre a dose ou use doses extra.
O que pode interferir com este medicamento?
- álcool
- bupropion
- quinidina
- quinina
- alguns diuréticos
- algumas vacinas contra a gripe
- alguns medicamentos para constipações ou alergias
- estimulantes
- sulfametoxazol; trimetoprim
- tioridazina
Esta lista pode não descrever todos os efeitos secundários possíveis. Dê ao seu médico uma lista de todos os medicamentos, ervas, medicamentos sem receita médica, ou suplementos dietéticos que use. Também lhe diga se fuma, bebe álcool, ou consome drogas ilegais. Alguns destes itens podem interagir com o medicamento. Informe o seu médico caso os seus sintomas não melhorem.
Que cuidados devo ter enquanto tomar este medicamento?
Pode ficar sonolento ou com tonturas. Não guiar, trabalhar com máquinas, ou fazer qualquer coisa que requeira um estado de alerta mental até saber como este medicamento o afecta. Evitar levantar e sentar rapidamente, em especial se for um paciente de idade. Isto reduz o risco de tonturas ou desmaios. O álcool pode interferir com o efeito deste medicamento. Evite bebidas alcoólicas.
Se tiver a tomar este medicamento para a doença de Parkinson ou um distúrbio de movimento, tenha cuidado. Aumente lentamente as suas actividades diárias à medida que a sua condição melhora. Não pare de tomar este medicamento repentinamente porque pode causar uma reacção grave.
Pode ficar com os olhos e boca secos, ou visão desfocada enquanto tiver a tomar este medicamento. Tente mastigar pastilhas sem açúcar ou chupar doces duros, e beba 6 a 8 copos de água diariamente. Lave os dentes e use fio dental regularmente e tente evitar problemas nos dentes e nas gengivas. Pode querer usar gotas lubrificantes para os olhos. Fale com o seu médico se estes sintomas se tornarem num problema.
Que efeitos secundários posso notar com a toma deste medicamento?
Efeitos secundários que deve reportar ao seu médico de imediato:
- ansiedade, irritabilidade, nervos
- obstipação ou diarreia
- perda de apetite
- náuseas
- dificuldade em dormir
- cansaço anormal

Onde devo guardar o medicamento?
Mantenha-o fora do alcance das crianças.
Conservar a uma temperatura entre os 20 e os 25 graus C (68 e 77 graus F). Manter o recipiente bem fechado. Deite fora medicamentos não utilizados após expirar o prazo de validade.
