ATOMOXETINA é usado para tratamento de Transtorno do Déficit de Atenção e Hiperactividade, também conhecido como TDAH. Não é um estimulante como outros drogas medicinais para TDAH. Este medicamento pode melhorar a atenção, concentração e o controlo emocional. Pode também reduzir comportamentos irrequietos ou hiperactivos.
O que devo dizer ao meu médico antes de tomar este medicamento?
Ele precisa de saber se tem alguma das seguintes condições:
- glaucoma
- tensão arterial alta ou baixa
- histórico de acidente vascular cerebral
- batimentos cardíacos irregulares ou outras doenças cardíacas
- doença hepática
- mania ou distúrbio bipolar
- pensamentos suicidas
- reacção invulgar ou alérgica à Atomoxetina, outros medicamentos, alimentos, corantes ou conservantes
- se está grávida ou a tentar engravidar
- se está a amamentar
Como devo tomar este medicamento?
Tome este medicamento por via oral com um copo de água. Pode tomar com ou sem alimentos. Se perturbar o seu estômago, tome-o com comida. Se tiver dificuldade em dormir e tomar mais que 1 dose por dia, tome a sua última dose antes das 18h. Tome o seu medicamento a intervalos regulares. Não tome mais frequentemente do que prescrito. Não pare de tomar, salvo indicação do seu médico.
Fale com o seu pediatra quanto à utilização deste medicamento em crianças. Poderão ser necessários cuidados especiais. Embora este medicamento possa ser prescrito em casos específicos a crianças com 6 meses, precauções serão necessárias.
Sobredosagem: Se pensa que poderá ter tomado uma dose superior ao prescrito contacte o Centro de Informação Antivenenos ou os Serviços de Urgência de imediato.
NOTA: Este medicamento é apenas para si. Não o partilhe com outros.
Que fazer se falhei uma toma?
Não tome este medicamento com qualquer dos seguintes:
- medicamentos chamados inibidores da MAO como Nardil, Parnate, Marplan, Eldepryl
- metilfenidato ou dexmetilfenidato
- reboxetina
Este medicamento pode também interagir com os seguintes:
- anfetaminas
- atropina
- tratamentos para a respiração, como albuterol, formoterol ou salmeterol
- alguns medicamentos para o coração, como amiodarona ou quinidina
- efedra, Ma huang ou efedrina
- medicamentos para a depressão, ansiedade ou outros problemas de humor
- medicamentos para perda de peso
- medicamentos que aumentam a tensão arterial como efedrina
Esta lista pode não descrever todas as interacções possíveis. Que cuidados devo ter enquanto estou a tomar este medicamento?

Se você foi tomar o medicamento regularmente por algum tempo, não tendo que parar de repente. Pergunte ao seu médico ou profissional de saúde para obter orientação.
Embora raramente, este medicamento pode aumentar pensamentos suicidas ou tentativas de suicídio em crianças e adolescentes. Chame o profissional de saúde do seu filho imediatamente se a criança ou adolescente aumentou ou tem novos pensamentos suicidas ou se tiver alterações no humor ou no comportamento, como tornar-se irritável ou ansioso. Vigie regularmente o seu filho para estas mudanças comportamentais.
Pode pode sentir-se sonolento ou com tonturas. Não conduza, utilize máquinas, ou faça qualquer coisa que exija alerta mental até perceber como reage a este medicamento. Não se levante ou sente rapidamente, especialmente se for um doente mais velho, para reduzir o risco de tonturas ou desmaios. O álcool pode aumentar possíveis tonturas ou sonolência. Evite bebidas alcoólicas.
Não trate a sua tosse, constipações ou alergias sem pedir aconselhamento ao seu médico ou profissional de saúde. Alguns ingredientes podem aumentar os efeitos secundários possíveis.
A sua boca pode ficar seca. Mastigar pastilhas sem açúcar ou chupar rebuçados e beber muita água pode ajudar.
Que efeitos secundários poderei notar com a toma deste medicamento?

- reacções alérgicas como erupções cutâneas, comichão ou urticária, inchaço da face, lábios ou língua

Onde devo guardar o meu medicamento?
Mantenha-o fora do alcance das crianças.
Conservar à temperatura ambiente entre 15 e 30 graus C (59 e 86 graus F). Deite fora medicamentos não utilizados após expirar o prazo de validade.
