OLMESARTAN ajuda a baixar a tensão arterial para níveis normais. Ele controla a tensão arterial elevada, mas não é uma cura. A tensão arterial elevada pode danificar os rins e pode levar a um acidente vascular cerebral ou insuficiência cardíaca. Olmesartan ajuda a evitar que estas coisas aconteçam.
O que devo dizer ao meu médico antes de tomar este medicamento?
Ele precisa de saber se tem alguma destas condições:
- anterior inchaço da língua, face, lábios ou com dificuldade em respirar, dificuldade em engolir, rouquidão, ou aperto na garganta
- insuficiência cardíaca
- doença renal
- doença hepática
- se estiver numa dieta especial, como uma dieta baixa em sal
- reacção alérgica ou anormal à olmesartan, outros medicamentos, alimentos, corantes ou conservantes
- se está grávida ou a tentar engravidar
- se está a amamentar
Como devo tomar este medicamento?
Tome olmesartan comprimidos por via oral. Engula os comprimidos com um copo de água. Olmesartan pode ser tomado com ou sem alimentos. Tome a sua dose em intervalos regulares. Não tome o seu medicamento mais do que indicado.
Fale com o seu pediatra quanto à utilização deste medicamento em crianças. Cuidados especiais podem ser necessários.
Sobredosagem: Se pensa que poderá ter tomado uma dose superior ao prescrito contacte o Centro de Informação Antivenenos ou os Serviços de Urgência de imediato.
NOTA: Este medicamento é apenas para si. Não o partilhe com outros.
Que fazer se falhei uma toma?
Se falhar uma dose, tome-a o mais cedo possível. Se estiver quase na hora de tomar a próxima dose, tome apenas essa. Não tome doses duplas ou extras.
O que pode interferir com este medicamento?
- medicamentos para a tensão arterial
- espinheiro-alvar
- lítio
- inibidores da monoamina oxidase
- suplementos de potássio
- diuréticos
Informe o seu médico sobre todos os outros medicamentos que está a tomar, incluindo medicamentos não sujeitos a receita médica, suplementos nutricionais, ou à base de plantas. Diga-lhe também se é um consumidor frequente de bebidas com cafeína ou álcool, se fuma, ou se usa drogas ilegais. Estes podem afectar a forma como o medicamento funciona. Verifique com o seu médico antes de parar ou iniciar qualquer um dos seus medicamentos.
Que cuidados devo ter enquanto tomar este medicamento?
Verifique a sua tensão arterial regularmente enquanto estiver a tomar olmesartan. Pergunte ao seu médico qual a tensão arterial que deve ser. Quando verificar a tensão arterial, anote as medições para mostrar ao seu médico.
Se estiver a tomar este medicamento por um longo período de tempo, deve visitar o seu médico para um controlo regular dos seus progressos. Certifique-se que agenda compromissos numa base regular.
Se vai ter uma cirurgia, informe o seu médico que está a tomar olmesartan.
As mulheres devem informar o seu médico caso pretendam engravidar ou suspeitam de que possam estar grávidas. Existe um grande potencial para efeitos secundários graves a um nascituro, sobretudo no segundo ou terceiro trimestre. Fale com o seu médico ou farmacêutico para mais informações.
Que efeitos secundários posso notar com a toma deste medicamento?
Efeitos secundários que deve reportar ao seu médico de imediato:
- dificuldade em respirar ou engolir, rouquidão ou aperto na garganta
- inchaço do rosto, lábios, língua, mãos ou pés
- invulgar erupção
- confusão, tonturas, desmaios ou frivolidade
- diminuição da quantidade de urina
- batimento cardíaco rápido ou irregular, palpitações ou dor no peito
Efeitos secundários que normalmente não requerem atenção médica (diga ao seu médico ou profissional de saúde se persistem, ou se são incómodos):
- dor nas costas
- diarreia
- tonturas
- garganta inflamada
- nariz ou seios entupidos

Onde devo guardar o meu medicamento?
Mantenha-o fora do alcance das crianças num recipiente que as crianças pequenas não consigam abrir.
Guarde-o em local com temperatura entre 15 e 30º C (59 e 86º F). Deite fora medicamentos não utilizados após expirar o prazo de validade.
