Cardizem (Diltiazem)
Información general
Cardizem pertenece a una familia de medicamentos conocidos como bloqueadores de los canales de calcio. Se utiliza para tratar la hipertensión (presión arterial elevada), angina (dolor de pecho), y ciertos trastornos del ritmo cardiaco. Funciona al relajar los vasos sanguíneos y reduciendo la carga de trabajo del corazón. Cardizem también se puede utilizar para controlar su ritmo cardíaco si usted tiene un latido del corazón rápido o irregular (como fibrilación auricular).
Instrucciones
Tome Cardizem exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. La dosis recomendada oscila entre 30 mg a 360 mg al día que se toma generalmente 3 o 4 veces al día. La dosis inicial recomendada para el tratamiento del dolor en el pecho (angina) es de 30 mg cuatro veces al día (antes de las comidas y al acostarse). Si es necesario, su médico puede aumentar la dosis para controlar mejor su dolor en el pecho. La dosis también puede ser disminuida si experimenta efectos secundarios molestos.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Cardizem usted debe hablar con su médico si usted tiene enfermedad del corazón, insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva, ritmo cardíaco irregular que se ralentiza el ritmo cardíaco (arritmia), síndrome del seno enfermo, enfermedad renal o hepática, la cirrosis, baja presión sanguínea, alergias. El medicamento puede aumentar las enzimas del hígado que puede ser un signo de daño hepático. Este medicamento puede causar mareos. No conduzca o realice tareas que requieren vigilancia. Evite beber alcohol. La toronja y el jugo de toronja pueden tener interacciones con diltiazem y pueden causar efectos potencialmente peligrosos.
Contraindicaciones
No tome Cardizem si usted es alérgico al diltiazem o a cualquier otro ingrediente del medicamento, si está embarazada o amamantando, o si usted tiene ciertos tipos de trastornos del ritmo cardíaco, presión arterial baja, se debilitó la acción de bombeo del corazón (insuficiencia ventricular izquierda), si tiene líquido en los pulmones.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Obtenga ayuda médica de emergencia si usted tiene diarrea, acidez estomacal, estreñimiento, dificultad para respirar, enrojecimiento, mareos, sensación de mareo, náuseas, dolor de cabeza, nerviosismo, cansancio, dolor abdominal, debilidad, tos, sibilancias, sensación de desmayo, latido irregular o acelerado, erupción cutánea, hinchazón de tobillos, pies, vómitos. Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, consulte a su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: las benzodiazepinas (clobazam, quazepam, diazepam, flurazepam), cimetidina, bloqueadores beta (labetalol, bisoprolol, propranolol), la clonidina, las estatinas (atorvastatina, simvastatina, lovastatina), quinidina, digoxina, rifampicina, ciclosporina. La interacción entre los dos medicamentos no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico todos los medicamentos, de venta libre-, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que está tomando.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de sobredosis son mareo, vértigo, desmayos, dificultad para respirar, retención de líquidos, presión arterial baja (hipotensión), insuficiencia cardíaca, ritmo cardíaco lento (bradicardia).
Almacenamiento
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 68-77 grados F (20-25 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y pets.
