Informations générales
L'ingrédient actif dans Zofran est l'ondansétron. Ce médicament est utilisé seul ou avec d'autres médicaments pour empêcher les nausées et les vomissements provoqués par un traitement anticancéreux (chimiothérapie) et la radiothérapie. Il est également utilisé pour empêcher et traiter les nausées et les vomissements après la chirurgie. Il agit en bloquant l'une des substances naturelles de l'organisme (la sérotonine) qui provoque des vomissements.
Posologie
Prenez Zofran conformément aux prescriptions de votre médecin. Ce médicament peut être pris avec ou sans nourriture. Prenez Zofran avec un verre plein d'eau. N’avalez pas le comprimé en entier. Laissez-le se dissoudre dans votre bouche sans le mâcher. Pour empêcher les nausées dûes à la chimiothérapie, prenez ce médicament par voie orale 30 minutes avant le traitement commence. Pour empêcher les nausées dûes à la radiothérapie, prenez ce médicament par voie orale d’une à deux heures avant le commencement de votre traitement. Pour empêcher les nausées après la chirurgie, prenez l'ondansétron par voie orale 1 heure avant le commencement de la chirurgie.
Précautions
Avant de prendre Zofran avisez votre médecin si vous avez une maladie du foie ou de l'estomac / des problèmes intestinaux. Zofran peut détériorer votre pensée ou les réactions. Soyez prudent si vous conduisez une voiture. Limitez la consommation des boissons alcoolisées. Pour minimiser les étourdissements et les vertiges, levez-vous lentement d'une position assise ou couchée.
Contre-indications
Vous ne devez pas utiliser Zofran si vous êtes allergique à l'ondansétron. Avertissez votre médecin si vous êtes enceinte ou allaitez. Zofran n'est pas recommandé chez les enfants de moins de 4 ans.
Effets secondaires possibles
Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez une vision floue, l'anxiété, des mictions moins fréquentes que d'habitude, des difficultés respiratoires, le rythme cardiaque lent, l'urticaire. Des effets secondaires moins graves peuvent inclure: la faiblesse, des étourdissements, la diarrhée, des maux de tête, une fièvre, des nausées, des vomissements.
Interaction des médicaments
Informez votre médecin de tous les autres médicaments que vous utilisez, notamment: la rifampicine, la phénytoïne, le tramadol, le phénobarbital, la carbamazépine. Informez votre médecin de tous les médicaments sur ordonnance et en vente libre, des vitamines, des minéraux, des produits à base de plantes et des médicaments prescrits par d'autres médecins. Ne commencez pas un nouveau médicament sans en parler à votre médecin.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Surdosage
Si vous pensez que vous avez une surdose du médicament cherchez de l’aide médicale d'urgence immédiatement. Les symptômes de surdosage sont la perte de la vision, une constipation sévère, un vertige léger ou un évanouissement.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à la température ambiante entre 68-77 degrés F (20-25 degrés C) à l’abri de la lumière et de l'humidité. Ne gardez pas les médicaments dans la salle de bain. Conservez-le dans un emballage étanche. Conservez tous les médicaments hors de portée des enfants et des animaux domestiques.
