Zetia (Ezetimibe)
Informations générales
Zetia fait partie d'une classe de médicaments appelés inhibiteurs de l'absorption du cholestérol. Il agit en réduisant la quantité de cholestérol que votre corps absorbe de votre nourriture. La réduction du cholestérol peut aider à prévenir les accidents vasculaires cérébraux et les crises cardiaques. Zetia est utilisé pour traiter le taux de cholestérol élevé (hypercholestérolémie) et la sitostérolémie. L'ézétimibe est parfois administré avec d'autres médicaments anti-cholestérol.
Posologie
Prenez Zetia conformément aux prescriptions de votre médecin. Prenez ce médicament par voie orale, généralement une fois par jour avec ou sans nourriture. Prenez l'ézétimibe à la même heure chaque jour. La posologie recommandée est de 10 mg une fois par jour. Si vous prenez un chélateur des acides biliaires (telle que la cholestyramine, le colestipol), prenez Zetia au moins 2 heures avant ou 4 heures après la prise du chélateur des acides biliaires.
Précautions
Avant de prendre Zetia vous devriez aviser votre médecin si vous avez une maladie du foie ou des reins, la vésicule biliaire, des calculs biliaires, des problèmes musculaires, des allergies, si vous utilisez des médicaments stéroïdes ou des hormones ou si vous buvez régulièrement de l'alcool. Évitez de manger des aliments qui sont riches en gras ou en cholestérol.
Contre-indications
Ne prenez pas Zetia si vous êtes allergiques à l'ézétimibe ou à l’un des composants de ce médicament, si vous êtes enceinte ou allaitez, ou si vous avez une maladie du foie active ou un taux inexplicablement élevé des enzymes hépatiques.
Effets secondaires possibles
Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez une faiblesse musculaire inhabituelle, la tendresse, la douleur d'estomac, des nausées, une fièvre légère, une perte d'appétit, l’urine foncée, des selles de couleur d'argile, la jaunisse (jaunissement de la peau ou des yeux), une douleur thoracique, une pancréatite, des vomissements, l’accélération du rythme cardiaque, des maux de gorge, des maux de tête, une desquamation, une éruption cutanée rouge, de l’urticaire, des difficultés respiratoires, un gonflement du visage, des lèvres, des engourdissements, une humeur dépressive, des étourdissements, la diarrhée, un écoulement ou une congestion nasaux, des douleurs articulaires, des maux de dos. Si vous remarquez d'autres effets non énumérés ci-dessus, consultez votre médecin.
Interaction des médicaments
Informez votre médecin de tous les autres médicaments que vous utilisez, notamment: cholestyramine (Prevalite, Questran), le colestipol (Colestid), le colesevelam (Welchol), le gemfibrozil (Lopid), la cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune, Gengraf), des anticoagulants (warfarine). L'interaction entre deux médicaments ne signifie pas toujours que vous devez cesser de prendre l'un d'eux. Informez votre médecin ou le prescripteur de tous les médicaments sur ordonnance, en vente libre et des herbes médicinales que vous prenez.
Omission de dose
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Surdosage
Aacun symptôme de surdose n'est connu. Si vous pensez que vous avez une surdose du médicament, cherchez de l’aide médicale d'urgence immédiatement.
Conservation
Conservez le médicament à la température ambiante entre 59-77 degrés F (15-25 degrés C) à l’abri de la lumière et de l'humidité. Ne conservez pas les médicaments dans la salle de bain. Conservez tous les médicaments hors de portée des enfants et des animaux domestiques.
