Asacol pertenece al grupo de medicamentos conocidos como antiinflamatorios. Se utiliza para el tratamiento de leve a moderada y la colitis ulcerosa leve a moderada enfermedad de Crohn. Actúa reduciendo la inflamación en el intestino. Asacol no cura la colitis ulcerosa, pero puede disminuir los síntomas tales como dolor de estómago, diarrea y sangrado rectal causado por la irritación / inflamación en el colon / recto. Funciona mediante el mantenimiento de su cuerpo de hacer ciertas sustancias naturales que pueden causar dolor e inflamación.
Instrucciones
Tome Asacol exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. Tome este medicamento por vía oral con o sin alimentos, generalmente 3 veces al día. La dosis de este medicamento será diferente para los distintos pacientes. Se basa en su condición médica y respuesta al tratamiento. Para el tratamiento de la colitis ulcerosa la dosis es de dos tabletas tres veces al día. Para el mantenimiento (a largo plazo) de tratamiento, 1600 mg por día en dosis divididas.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Asacol usted debe hablar con su médico si usted es alérgico a éste o a los salicilatos si usted tiene problemas de riñón o hígado, asma, vaciado anormal de estómago (estenosis pilórica), problemas en el páncreas (pancreatitis), inflamación del saco que rodea el corazón (pericarditis). Este medicamento puede causar mareos. No conduzca o realice cualquier actividad que requiera estar alerta. Limite las bebidas alcohólicas.
Contraindicaciones
No tome Asacol si usted es alérgico a cualquiera de los ingredientes del medicamento, si usted tiene gástrica (estómago) o duodenales (intestinales) úlcera, obstrucción del tracto urinario. No es recomendado para menores de 2 años de edad. Informe a su médico si está embarazada o amamantando.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Obtenga ayuda médica de emergencia si usted tiene dolor de estómago, fiebre, visión borrosa, diarrea con sangre, mareos, sangrado rectal, nerviosismo, picor, debilidad, palpitaciones en los oídos, latidos cardíacos lentos o rápidos, dolor de espalda, vómito, ojos o piel amarilla, la ansiedad , dolor torácico, pérdida de cabello, pérdida de apetito, dolor muscular. Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, consulte a su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: warfarina, sulfonilureas (gliclazida, gliburida), antiinflamatorios no esteroideos (ibuprofeno, naproxeno), digoxina, furosemida, azatioprina, la espironolactona, probenecid, nadroparina, dalteparina, enoxaparina, ardeparin, tinzaparina, el metotrexato. La interacción entre los dos medicamentos no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico todos los medicamentos, de venta libre-, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que está tomando.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de sobredosis son jadeo, convulsiones, somnolencia, diarrea, zumbidos en los oídos, dolor de cabeza, mareo, respiración rápida, sudoración, vómitos, confusión, pérdida de la audición, náuseas.
Almacenamiento
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 68-77 grados F (20-25 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. Guárdelo en un recipiente hermético.
