Protonix est dans un groupe de médicaments appelés inhibiteurs de la pompe à protons. Il diminue la quantité d'acide produite dans l'estomac. Le médicament est utilisé pour traiter l'oesophagite érosive, l’endommagement de l'oesophage dû à l'acide gastrique et d'autres conditions à cause de l’excès d'acidité gastrique telles que le syndrome de Zollinger-Ellison. Protonix n'est pas pour le soulagement immédiat des symptômes de brûlures d'estomac.
Posologie
Les comprimés de Protonix peuvent être pris avec ou sans nourriture. Évitez d'écraser, de mâcher ou de casser le comprimé. Prenez Protonix conformément aux prescriptions de votre médecin. Pour prévenir des ulcères de l'estomac ou du duodénum, le reflux gastro-œsophagien la dose de Protonix est de 40 mg par jour pendant 4 semaines. Dans le cas du traitement en association avec des antibiotiques visant à éliminer H. pylori chez les patients atteints des ulcères de l'estomac et du duodénum il faut prendre 40 mg de Protonix par jour répartis en deux doses: un comprimé avant le déjeuner et avant le souper.
Précautions
Le traitement à long terme avec Protonix peut rendre plus difficile pour votre corps à absorber la vitamine B-12, provoquant sa déficience. Les symptômes de la déficience de la vitamine B-12 peuvent se développer lentement et comprennent la peau pâle, l'asthénie, la fatigue, le souffle rapide. Avisez votre médecin si vous êtes enceinte ou prévoyez devenir enceinte pendant le traitement ou si vous allaitez.
Contre-indications
Ne l'utilisez pas si vous y êtes allergique ou si vous avez une maladie du foie. Consultez votre médecin ou votre pharmacien pour des informations supplémentaires.
Effets secondaires possibles
Obtenez de l'aide médicale d'urgence si vous avez un de ces signes: une allergie, des vertiges, l'insomnie ou l'asthénie, des battements cardiaques rapides, des convulsions ou des douleurs musculaires.
Interaction des médicaments
Protonix ne doit pas être pris en association avec l'atazanavir ou le nelfinavir. Avertissez votre médecin si vous prenez l'un des médicaments pour traiter le VIH ou le SIDA.
Dose oubliée
Prenez la dose oubliée dès que possible. Sautez-la s'il est temps pour votre prochaine dose. Ne prenez pas de doses supplémentaires pour compenser la dose oubliée.
Overdose
Les symptômes du surdosage sont inconnus. Cherchez de l’attention médicale d'urgence si vous pensez que vous avez pris trop de médicament.
Conservation
Conservez vos médicaments à température ambiante entre 15-30 C (59-86 F). Conservez-les à l'écart de l'humidité et de la lumière. Gardez-les hors de portée des enfants et loin des animaux domestiques.
