Albenza (Albendazole)
Informazioni generali
Albenza è prescritto per il trattamento delle infezioni causate da vermi. Queste infezioni possono essere causate da Taenia solium, idatidosi cistica del fegato, del peritoneo, o dei polmoni, causata dalla forma larvale della Tenia, da Echinococcus granulosus, nematodi comuni (ascariasis), larva migrans cutanea, ossiuri (enterobiosi o ossiuriasi) , anchilostomi (ancylostomiasis e necatoriasis), tricocefali (trichuriasis), strongyloidiasis, trichostrongyliasis. Il farmaco agisce impedendo l'assorbimento di zuccheri da parte del verme solitario. Come conseguenza del trattamento l'infezione perde energia e muore.
Indicazioni
Si consiglia di prendere il farmaco nelle modalità con cui è stato prescritto dal medico. Inghiottire la pillola intera. Prendere durante i pasti per due volte al giorno.
Precauzioni
Prima di iniziare il trattamento con Albenza informare necessariamente il proprio medico se si hanno: problemi agli occhi, insufficienza epatica, basso numero di globuli bianchi, basso numero di piastrine, o problemi al midollo osseo.
Controindicazioni
Le donne incinte e i pazienti con ipersensibilità ad Albenza non possono utilizzare il farmaco.
Possibili effetti collaterali
Gli effetti collaterali che si manifestano più frequentemente possono essere: eruzioni cutanee, prurito, mal di gola, grande stanchezza e debolezza, dolori addominali, vertigini, cefalea, febbre, nausea, vomito, diarrea o temporanea perdita di capelli. Se si verifica uno degli effetti indesiderati sopra elencati contattare il proprio medico.
Interazioni farmacologiche
Prima di iniziare il trattamento con Albenza riferire al proprio medico circa altri farmaci che si stanno assumendo in particolare riguardo a desametasone, praziquantel, cimetidina e teofillina.
Dose mancata
Prendere la dose saltata non appena possibile. Se è quasi tempo di prendere la dose successiva saltarla e ritornare al vostro programma.
Sovradosaggio
Se si pensa di aver assunto una dose eccessiva del farmaco cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza.
Conservazione
Conservare il farmaco tra i 20-25 C (68-77 F) lontano da fonti di luce e dalla portata di bambini.
