Rocaltrol (Calcitriol)
Informazioni generali
Rocaltrol appartiene ad un gruppo di farmaci chiamati metaboliti della vitamina D3; si tratta di una forma di vitamina D che è attivanel corpo. La vitamina D aiuta l'ormone paratiroideo e il controllo dei livelli di alcuni minerali (calcio, fosforo) necessari per costruire e mantenere forti le ossa. Inoltre aiuta le ossa ad assorbire il calcio. Rocaltrol è usato in pazienti con malattia renale che non possono farne abbastanza della forma attiva della vitamina D. Questo farmaco è utilizzato anche per prevenire e curare alcuni tipi di problemi di calcio, fosforo o delle paratiroidi(ipoparatiroidismo) che possono verificarsi nelle dialisi renali.
Indicazioni
Assumere Rocaltrol esattamente come prescritto dal medico. Prendere questo farmaco per via orale a stomaco pieno o vuoto, di solito una volta al giorno. La dose iniziale raccomandata per gli adulti è di 0,25 mg al giorno. Le dosi iniziali per i bambini sono calcolate sulla base del peso corporeo e della condizione da trattare.
Precauzioni
Prima di iniziare il trattamento informare il proprio medico se si hanno:malattie cardiache tra cui battito cardiaco irregolare, malattia coronarica, malattie renali, calcoli renali, ipercalcemia. Non assumere altre vitamine o minerali. Evitare l'uso di antiacidi poiché alcuni tipi possono causare gravi effetti collaterali.
Controindicazioni
Non utilizzare Rocaltrol se si è allergici al calcitriolo, alla vitamina D o ad altre forme di vitamina D, ad uno qualsiasi degli ingredienti del farmaco, se siete in gravidanza o in periodo d'allattamento, se avete alti livelli di calcio o di vitamina D nel sangue.
Possibili effetti collaterali
Cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza se si hanno:crampi addominali, agitazione, costipazione, disturbi del sonno, dolore alle estremità, mal di testa, problemi del sonno (insonnia), sapore metallico, nausea, rosso, irritazioni agli occhi, vomito, prurito, gonfiore del viso lingua, della gola , arrossamento, eruzioni cutanee, dolore osseo, diminuzione dell'appetito, perdita di peso, frequenza cardiaca irregolare, aumento della sete, aumento della minzione, sonnolenza. Se si notano altri effetti non elencati sopra, contattare il medico.
Interazioni farmacologiche
Si informi il medico circa tutti i farmaci in uso, in particolare riguardo a:digossina, fosfato, barbiturici (Butalbital, fenobarbital, pentobarbital, amobarbital), magnesio, sequestranti degli acidi biliari (colestipolo, colesevelam, colestiramina), farmaci antifungini (voriconazolo, itraconazolo, fluconazolo, ketoconazolo ), steroidi (prednisone, idrocortisone, prednisolone). Si noti inoltre che l'interazione fra due farmaci non necessariamente deve portare ad una sospensione dell'utilizzo di uno dei due farmaci. Si informi il medico circa tutti i farmaci in uso compresi i farmaci da prescrizione,quelli da banco e i prodotti erboristici.
Dose mancata
Prendere la dose dimenticata non appena possibile. Saltare la dose, se è tempo per la dose successiva. Non prendere dosi extra per compensare le dosi dimenticate.
Sovradosaggio
Se si pensa di aver assunto una dose eccessiva del farmaco cercare immediatamente assistenza medica d'emergenza. I sintomi da sovradosaggio sono: debolezza, mal di testa, perdita di appetito, nausea, vomito, crampi allo stomaco, vertigini.
Conservazione
Conservare il farmaco a temperatura ambiente tra i 59-86 gradi F (15-30 gradi C) lontano dalla luce e dall'umidità. Non conservare in bagno. Conservare il farmaco lontano dalla portata dei bambini e degli animali domestici.
