Rocaltrol (Calcitriol)
Información general
Rocaltrol pertenece al grupo de medicamentos llamados metabolitos de la vitamina D3. Es una forma de vitamina D que es activa en el cuerpo. También ayuda a los huesos a absorber el calcio. Rocaltrol se utiliza en pacientes con enfermedad renal que no pueden hacer lo suficiente de la forma activa de vitamina D. Este medicamento también se usa para prevenir y tratar ciertos tipos de problemas de calcio, fósforo o paratiroides que pueden suceder con la diálisis renal a largo plazo o hipoparatiroidismo.
Instrucciones
Tome Rocaltrol exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. Tome este medicamento por vía oral con o sin alimentos, generalmente una vez al día. La dosis inicial recomendada para adultos es de 0,25 mg al día. Las dosis iniciales para los niños se calculan basándose en el peso corporal y del estado a tratar.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Rocaltrol usted debe hablar con su médico si usted tiene enfermedad del corazón, incluyendo latidos irregulares del corazón, enfermedad arterial coronaria, enfermedad renal, cálculos renales, hipercalcemia. No tome otras vitaminas o minerales. Evite el uso de antiácidos. Algunos tipos pueden causar efectos secundarios graves.
Contraindicaciones
No utilice Rocaltrol si usted es alérgico al calcitriol, la vitamina D o las formas de la vitamina D, o cualquier otro ingrediente del medicamento, si está embarazada o amamantando o si usted tiene niveles altos de calcio o vitamina D en la sangre.
Posibles efectos secundarios
Busque atención médica de emergencia si usted tiene dolor abdominal, agitación, estreñimiento, dificultad para dormir, dolor de las extremidades, dolor de cabeza, problemas de sueño (insomnio), sabor metálico, náuseas, ojos rojos, irritados, vómitos, picazón, hinchazón de la cara, lengua, garganta , enrojecimiento, erupción cutánea, dolor de huesos, pérdida de apetito, pérdida de peso, frecuencia cardíaca irregular, aumento de sed, orinar más de lo habitual, somnolencia. Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, póngase en contacto con su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: digoxina, fosfato, los barbitúricos (butalbital, fenobarbital, pentobarbital, amobarbital), magnesio, secuestradores de ácidos biliares (colestipol, colesevelam, colestiramina), medicamentos antifúngicos (voriconazol, itraconazol, fluconazol, ketoconazol ), esteroides (prednisona, la hidrocortisona, prednisona). La interacción entre dos medicaciones no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico o sobre todos los medicamentos, sin receta médica, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que esté tomando.
Dosis omitida
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que ha tomado mucho de la medicina busque ayuda médica de emergencia a la vez. Los síntomas de sobredosis son: debilidad, dolor de cabeza, pérdida del apetito, náuseas, vómitos, calambres estomacales, mareos.
Almacenaje
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 59-86 grados F (15-30 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
