Instrucciones
Tome Skelaxin exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. La dosis inicial recomendada para adultos y niños de 12 años de edad es de 800 mg, tres o cuatro veces al día. Se puede tomarlo con alimentos o inmediatamente después de las comidas para evitar malestar estomacal.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Skelaxin usted debe hablar con su médico si usted tiene enfermedad del hígado, insuficiencia hepática, cirrosis, hepatitis, enfermedades renales, insuficiencia renal, anemia, alergias. Este medicamento puede causar mareos o somnolencia. No conduzca o realice tareas que requieren vigilancia. Limite el consumo de las bebidas alcohólicas. El alcohol puede aumentar algunos de los efectos secundarios. Levántese lentamente al levantarse de una posición de sentado o acostado. Los ancianos pueden ser más sensibles a sus efectos secundarios.
Contraindicaciones
Usted no debe tomar Skelaxin si usted es alérgico a el, a metaxalone, o a cualquiera de los componentes inactivos de este medicamento, o si sufre del riñón o del hígado importantes, anemia. Informe a su médico si está embarazada o amamantando.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Obtenga ayuda médica de emergencia si usted tiene náusea, dolor de estómago, vómitos, pérdida de apetito, somnolencia, mareos, fiebre baja, orina oscura, ictericia (coloración amarillenta de la piel o los ojos), dolor de cabeza, erupción cutánea, picor, hinchazón de la cara, labios, lengua, urticaria, dificultad para respirar, latidos rápidos del corazón. Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, consulte a su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: barbitúricos (butalbital, fenobarbital, pentobarbital, amobarbital), benzodiazepinas (diazepam, clobazam, triazolam lorazepam, midazolam), analgésicos narcóticos (metadona, levometadilo, morfina). La interacción entre los dos medicamentos no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico sobre todos los medicamentos, de venta libre-, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que está tomando.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de sobredosis son somnolencia, respiración lenta o superficial, pérdida del conocimiento.
Almacenaje
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 59-86 grados F (15-30 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
