Meclizina es un antihistamínico y anticolinérgico. Funciona mediante el bloqueo de un mensajero químico en el cerebro, que ayuda a reducir o prevenir el vómito. Meclizina se utiliza para tratar o prevenir las náuseas, vómitos y mareos causados por el movimiento. También se utiliza para el vértigo (mareos) causadopor ciertos problemas del oído interno.
Instrucciones
Use este medicamento exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. No la use en cantidades mayores o durante más tiempo de lo recomendado.Tome meclizina con un vaso lleno de agua. Para prevenir el mareo, tome la dosis de 25 a 50 mg 1 hora antes de viajar o participar en la actividad que causa el mareo por movimiento. Para tratar el vértigo, puede ser que tenga que tomar meclizina varias veces al día. La dosis recomendada es de 25 a 100 mg al día, en dosis divididas.
Precauciones
Mientras estén tomando este medicamento los pacientes deben ser advertidos de no conducir un vehículo o manejar maquinaria peligrosa. No use esta medicina sin antes decirle a su médico si está amamantando a un bebé. Los pacientes deben evitar las bebidas alcohólicas mientras estén tomando este medicamento.
Contraindicaciones
Usted no debe tomar este medicamento si usted es alérgico a la meclizina, o si usted tiene asma, glaucoma, problemas para orinar, aumento del tamaño de la glándula prostática. No se recomienda en niños menores de 12 años de edad.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Obtenga ayuda médica de emergencia si usted tiene cualquiera de estos síntomas de una reacción alérgica: ronchas, dificultad para respirar, hinchazón de la cara, labios, lengua. Efectos secundarios de menor gravedad pueden incluir: visión borrosa, retención urinaria, presión arterial baja, boca seca, mareos, somnolencia.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Alcohol, los sedantes y los tranquilizantes pueden aumentar la somnolencia que causa Meclizine. Dígale a su médico acerca de todos sus medicamentos con receta y de venta libre, vitaminas, minerales, productos herbarios. No empiece una nueva medicina sin antes consultar a su médico.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada. A veces meclizina se toma solamente cuando se necesita, no puede estar en un horario regular.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de sobredosis pueden incluir adormecimiento intenso.
Almacenamiento
