Betapace se usa para ayudar a mantener el corazón latiendo normalmente en personas con ciertos trastornos del ritmo cardíaco de los ventrículos (las cámaras inferiores del corazón que permite que la sangre fluya desde el corazón). Se utiliza en personas con taquicardia ventricular o fibrilación ventricular.
Instrucciones
Tome Betapace exactamente según lo prescrito por su médico. La dosis recomendada para el tratamiento de las arritmias ventriculares es 240 a 320 mg en total por día y para la fibrilación auricular o flúter auricular - 80 a 160 mg en total por día. Por lo general se toma por vía oral de una a tres veces al día. Tómelo a la misma hora todos los días. Se puede tomar ya sea con una comida o con el estómago vacío. Si utiliza antiácidos,como el sotalol, no los tome al mismo tiempo.
Precauciones
Antes de tomar Betapace usted debe hablar con su médico si usted tiene diarrea severa o prolongada o vómitos, electrolitos baja (niveles bajos de potasio), síndrome de QT largo, enfermedad periférica arterial, enfermedad renal, insuficiencia renal, diabetes, dolor de pecho (angina), el corazón fracaso, síndrome del seno enfermo, ritmo cardíaco lento (bradicardia), asma, enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica, enfermedad de la tiroides hiperactiva (hipertiroidismo), próxima cirugía, cualquier alergia. Este medicamento puede causar mareos. No conduzca o realice tareas que requieren vigilancia. Los adultos mayores pueden ser más sensibles a los efectos secundarios de este medicamento. No tome un antiácido 2 horas antes o después de tomar Betapace. Los antiácidos contienen diferentes medicinas y algunos tipos pueden hacerlo más difícil que su cuerpo absorba sotalol.
Contraindicaciones
Usted no debe tomar Betapace si usted tiene alergia a ella, el clorhidrato de sotalol, o a cualquiera de los componentes inactivos de este medicamento, asma, bronquitis crónica, enfisema, insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva no controlada, el segundo o tercer grado bloqueo cardíaco, frecuencia cardíaca muy lenta (bradicardia), shock cardiogénico. Informe a su médico si está embarazada o amamantando.
Los posibles efectos secundarios
Obtenga ayuda médica de emergencia si usted tiene cansancio, latidos cardíacos lentos, mareos, dolor de cabeza, diarrea, disminución de la capacidad sexual, mareo, dificultad para respirar, aumento de peso inexplicable, erupción cutánea, picor, hinchazón de la cara, lengua, garganta, dolor en el pecho, sudoración inusual , náuseas, vómitos, problemas para dormir (insomnio). Si usted nota otros efectos no mencionados anteriormente, consulte a su médico.
Interacciones con otros medicamentos
Dígale a su médico acerca de todas las medicinas que usted use, especialmente: medicamentos para el asma (pirbuterol, teofilina, metaproterenol), antagonistas del calcio (verapamilo, felodipino, nifedipino, diltiazem), medicamentos para la diabetes (clorpropamida, la metformina, glipizida, gliburida), antidepresivos ( imipramina, doxepina, amitriptilina, nortriptilina), fenotiazinas (perfenazina, la tioridazina, flufenazina), medicamentos para tratar trastornos psiquiátricos (tioridazina, pimozida, haloperidol), antibióticos (claritromicina, azitromicina, eritromicina), medicamentos para el ritmo cardíaco (disopiramida, amiodarona, quinidina, dofetilida), diuréticos, reserpina, digoxina, clonidina. La interacción entre los dos medicamentos no siempre significa que usted debe dejar de tomar uno de ellos. Dígale a su médico sobre todos los medicamentos, de venta libre, y los medicamentos a base de hierbas que está tomando.
Dosis olvidada
Tome la dosis que se ha olvidado tan pronto como sea posible. No tome la dosis olvidada si es la hora para su próxima dosis. No tome más medicina para alcanzar la dosis pasada.
Sobredosis
Si usted piensa que tiene una sobredosis de la medicina, debe buscar ayuda médica de inmediato. Los síntomas de la sobredosis son: mareos intensos, desmayos, latidos cardíacos lentos o rápidos, dificultad para respirar, dolor en el pecho, hinchazón, hambre, debilidad, confusión convulsiones.
Almacenaje
Guarde el medicamento a temperatura ambiente entre 59-86 grados F (15-30 grados C) lejos de la luz y la humedad. No guarde los medicamentos en el cuarto de baño. Mantenga todos los medicamentos fuera del alcance de los niños y las mascotas.
